Surfing

A Poem from a Non-surfers Perspective

Bob McCoog
Drifting out lazily on the open blue
Feeling peace and serenity wash over
Laying down, feeling the calm
Waiting for the emotions to change

Feeling the blue start to rumble
Feeling the peace turn to anger
Calm become violence
Standing up
Heart pounding in fear of
The anger winning

Taking control, riding the wave
Staying calm and steady
Riding the blue bucking bronco
Keeping balance and riding to
The sandy finish line.

I've lived in Texas now for about seven years. However, I am a Yankee by birth from the great state of New Jersey.  View profile
