Each hostel is uniquely decorated to fit the style of the owners. SummerPoint has a modern feel to it and Summer-Wings has more of a family feel with Grecian inspired architecture. Both places are brand new therefore they are very clean and comfortable. I slept extremely comfortably and woke up to a breezy ocean morning. Coffee and breakfast were waiting for me shortly after my quiet morning began. When I spoke with the owners and got to know them a little they told me many surfers come to Jialeshuei.
The surfing is suppose to be some of the best in Taiwan calling Jialeshuei "The Heart," of the island. I unfortunately did not get my first taste of surfing because it was too windy for a beginner, but I plan to go back when the weather is good and check out some of my first waves. Sight seeing in this area of Taiwan is also a must, the mountains meet the ocean and your eyes will never get tired of the views.
Each hostel has a full kitchen and any meal you prefer. There are no other restaurants near by so luckily we ate here and the food was delicious. All the owners speak English and were willing to help my friend and I with anything we needed, including surf lessons. Snorkeling and Scuba Diving are also offered if you do not prefer surfing. Both locations are a short walk away from the beach, so I felt everything was very convenient in Jialeshuei. Airport pick-up is offered from Summer-Point in Kaohsiung, but I know both hostels help each other, so please ask if you have any questions.
Everything is reasonably priced and worth every dime I spent or NT$1. I look forward to my second visit at Jialeshuei. The waves are calling my name and I look forward to chatting more with the hostel owners as they are very interesting and have true passion for living where they can do what they love, SURFING!
