What you are feeling is very natural. Having a baby will change your life forever and many women feel afraid of this type of huge responsibility. Accepting this fact is a process and it takes a while. Some women do not even feel like mothers until after their child is born.
The first thing to remember when you find out that you are pregnant is that you are lucky; many women struggle with fertility issues and have trouble conceiving a baby. A child is a precious gift and you should be grateful for that gift.
Financial stability can be an issue for many pregnant women, there are many state agencies for pregnant women such as WIC which stands for women, infants, and children. If you qualify for this program then you can get food and formula for yourself and your baby. There are also food stamp programs that are similar to WIC. You just need to research programs that can help pregnant women. It is very easy to do and it can be very helpful to you financially.
After you find out that you are pregnant you should find a knowledgeable obstetrician that you feel comfortable with. Your obstetrician will take care of you and your unborn baby during your pregnancy. The obstetrician will deliver your baby so you want to do research and find an obstetrician that is close to your home and has excellent credentials. If you have medical insurance then you can call your provider and ask for a list of obstetricians in your area. You may also want to try to find a doctor that has a group practice because your doctor will have many patients. It is easier to get an appointment in a group practice than in a solo practice. If you do not have health insurance then you need to contact a state agency to see about getting health care for you and your unborn baby.
Prenatal care is very important. You need to take a prenatal vitamin every day after you find out that you are pregnant. You also need to cut out caffeine, alcohol, drugs, and smoking. This will help your unborn baby develop healthier. You should also maintain a balanced diet so that you do not become overweight and increase your chances for developing gestational diabetes.
As you progress in your pregnancy you will fall more and more in love with your unborn baby. Pregnancy changes your mind and your body. You will think about your baby every day. You will have pregnancy milestones. Such milestones include the first ultrasound, the first time the baby kicks, the first baby outfit that you buy, and your first Lamaze class. Each milestone makes your pregnancy more of a reality. These events are very special to you and you will remember them and cherish them for the rest of your life.
Your thinking changes when you are pregnant, you worry about what you eat and drink. You want to protect your unborn baby. It is important to take care of yourself. Stress is not good for you or your unborn baby. You need to relax and enjoy your pregnancy.
Being a mother is the greatest thing that you will ever do in your entire life. You can be the most influential role model that your child will ever have. It is a huge responsibility but it is also an enormous gift. You will never regret being a mother. It will make your life better in so many ways. Every day you will live and breathe for your child. You will want to protect them from everything that is bad for you. It is just instinctual, every woman has maternal instincts and the day that your child is born you will know that you were born to be a mother and that it is the happiest day of your life. If you are a woman who has an unplanned pregnancy, just remain calm and look at the bright side, you will bring a new life into the world and nothing is better than that.
