Surprise-Jon & Kate Gosselin File for Divorce

Last nights big surprise announcement, filmed a month ago on Mothers Day, is made public last night. It seems Jon doesn't like taking orders and is finally standing-up for himself after all these years he said on TV last night. Meantime Kate expressed the fact that the kids are her highest priority.

So what is wrong with this scenario? Self-centeredness for one. Jon doesn't get it. The kids are what matter most and this TV series has caused emotional havoc in their lives. Jon has been pictured on several tabloids' sneaking around with his new girlfriend. What happened to "Till death do we part." I guess Jon threw that part out with the bath water.

So now the show goes on, realty show that is. Which will bring the messed-up lives of another failed marriage into our homes. Who needs it? This show will eventually go on the scrape heap and Kate will either marry a man with money or pull her hair out trying to raise eight kids while ex-hubby Jon starts missing child support payments. This after we get the privelige of viewing the messy divorce itself.

It does make one wonder if Jon has pictured Kate with another man or worse another man takes his place on the show. How will that make him feel? What about the kids? When he visits his kids, Kate has to leave and Jon just comes over to Kate's house. That will be weird. They thought last night was weird and uncomfortable wait till this starts taking place- with the cameras rolling no doubt.

They have a lot of success to look back on as they turned a family of ten into an adorable show that kept us laughing and wondering how they do it all. This turned their lives for the better financially, but what effect does "reality TV" has on its stars other then financial success?

Well for what its worth they just started their fifth season on TLC Memorial Day weekend complete with books, DVDs and all the other deals they can wrangle. Kate seems to lament the fact that she will have to go it alone now, while Jon is tired of the paparazzi taking his picture when he doesn't want them taken. Jon will one day wake-up and see that the kids and Kate were worth the aggravation and wish he had stayed home and dealt with this like a man.

Life goes on and time will tell whether this was the right decision or another statistic complete with dysfunctional reality-Jon & Kate Plus Eight minus Jon.
