Surprising Nightlife in Liberty Township, Ohio

Three years ago, my family and I eagerly anticipated our move to Liberty Township, Ohio, population 26,447 see Butler County, Ohio Population by Places Estimates. While in a different county and bordering West Chester, Mason, Fairfield, and Monroe, many consider Liberty Township a suburb of Cincinnati. Having lived in Cincinnati all of our lives, we struggled to find exciting nightlife within our own community. The mere thought of driving 30 to 45 minutes one way into downtown Cincinnati or Northern Kentucky was not appealing. After three years of trial and error, here are a few suggestions for those new to Liberty Township or residents looking for something different.

Mesh Restaurant

Mesh Restaurant located at 6200 Mulhauser Road, West Chester, OH is a great place to enjoy dinner. Executive chefs Paul and Pam Sturkey create an eclectic menu comprised of savory entrees and signature desserts. The "wall of wine" a phrase appropriately coined by the restaurant houses a large variety of wines to accompany every meal and please the most discriminating palate. In addition, Mesh boasts a New York style lounge for its patrons to relax and mingle after work or after dinner. Happy Hour specials are offered Monday through Friday from 4 - 7p.m.

Jag's Steak and Seafood

Jag's Steak and Seafood is located a block away from Mesh at 5980 West Chester Road in West Chester, Ohio. If you are looking for a good time, Jag's is the place to go as it offers a one-stop shop for dinner and live entertainment. I like to say it is bifurcated...

On one side of the beautifully decorated restaurant, you can enjoy a warm and elegant steakhouse...Chicago-style. Rich dark woods and multiple fireplaces set the atmosphere apart from other restaurants in the area. Each menu - dinner, dessert, wine, cocktails and sushi, speak for themselves. From Kobe Stroganoff or Chilean Sea Bass for dinner to Banana Bread Pudding or Frozen Key Lime Torte for dessert, Jag's sets the standard for elegant dinning.

Dinner may be over, but the night is not. Customers are encouraged to traverse through the foyer to the opposite side of the restaurant to enjoy live entertainment. Local Cincinnati bands perform Sunday through Thursday during Happy Hour. If relaxing in a piano lounge is not your ideal way to pass time, put on your dancing shoes and club wear and head out to Jag's on Friday and Saturday nights. Jag's seven-piece house band plays dance music from 9:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. that will keep you dancing from the moment you step on the dance floor until Jag's closes its doors.

Putters Tavern & Grill

Are you looking for a place to go on a Friday night where jeans are the preferred attire? Then Putters is your place. A local neighborhood bar and restaurant, Putter's can be found at 6575 Cincinnati-Dayton Road, Liberty Township, Ohio. Putter's is a modern day Cheers. It is a place where you can take the kids for a dinner of chicken wings, quesadillas, and taco salad; meet your buddies after work for a game of pool or on a Saturday afternoon to watch the big Ohio State game. Regulars know each other by first name and running into your son's principal or your daughter's Math teacher is common.

Putter's caters to a diverse crowd. Enthusiastic dancers, live music, heart felt karaoke singers, or other venue of entertainment greet patrons at the door Wednesday through Saturday nights. Little Sonoma

Located at 6078 West Chester Road, West Chester, Ohio, Little Sonoma is a fine wine and gourmet food shop. If you can locate Union Centre Boulevard's Business District, you will have no problems locating this hidden treasure.

Little Sonoma features a wide selection of wines, gourmet cheeses, pastas and chocolate. One could say they offer to the Midwest a taste of the Sonoma Valley. If you need a change of pace, Little Sonoma may be the answer. Enjoy Wine Tastings every Friday evening and casual tastings every Saturday afternoon. The Brazenhead Irish Pub

If fine wine does not tempt your palate, perhaps Brazenhead may be your Pub of choice. Located at 5650 Tylersville Road in Mason, Ohio, Brazenhead touts, according to its website, that its Mason location honors the Irish traditions immigrants brought to the United States. Simply stated, there is lively music and an unlimited selection of beer. You have never seen a beer selection until you have experienced Brazenhead.

The main floor offers a comfortable dining space, where bands often play and courageous souls dance a few chords. Live bands perform every Friday and Saturday night. For those who are truly Irish at heart stop by Brazenhead every other Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for the Celtic Jam.

While at Brazenhead, feel free to travel to the lower level. The basement features a cigar bar and game area. Whether seated on the main floor or the lower level, you are only a waiter away from one of Brazenhead's signature brews imported from around the world.

For the beer aficionados with discriminating taste, you will love Brazenhead's Emerald Pint Club (EPC). The membership fee is a nominal five dollars. On any given night, Liberty Township residents can no longer claim they have nowhere to go for entertainment. Whether Mesh, Jag's, Putters, Little Sonoma, or Brazenhead the opportunities are abundant.
