Regardless of these, the main point I'm trying to make here is that as I prayed and read from God's Word (John 18:37 has me hooked), He spoke these thoughts very clearly to me! There was nothing but simple dialogue in my mind, no writing on the wall, no divine intervention directing my path. But the God of all creation spoke quietly to me and directed my thoughts towards a good and honorable path! This is miraculous indeed! Does the full weight of this not simply astound us? Our Father in Heaven has answered my prayer just as He promised He would! Do we break down in tears every time He speaks to us as such, in awe of what we witness taking place? If not, what reason could we have for missing the magnitude of this simplest of interactions between us and our Heavenly Father? He speaks to us! He guides us! He loves us! And He does this just as He said He would, our sin notwithstanding! We know that "every good gift...is from above..." (James 1:17), but why do we not act as such? Where is the praise and thanksgiving our Father so deserves, not only for His gift of eternal life and His pouring out of His Holy Spirit, but for the very simple, everyday communion He has with us every time a good thought or good idea or good memory enters into our conscience? Praise be to God for listening every time I call!
May I never become so hard as to not hear His voice and tremble in His presence, my boldness in coming notwithstanding! There's a song I love, "I Can Only Imagine", which speaks of the time we finally meet our Savior face to face. My favorite verse goes:
Surrounded by Your glory, what will my heart feel?
Will I dance for you Jesus or in awe of you be still?
Will I stand in your presence or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing hallelujah; will I be able to speak at all?
The few times a day I'm paying attention and I hear Him speak to me, I can barely stand and keep myself composed! That's here on earth as I listen to Him! What chance do I have for maintaining any semblance of order or posture when I see Him face to face! Father, may my heart burst with joy every moment of every day as I'm reminded continually of Your promise to never leave me nor forsake me (Deut. 31:6)! I'm in Your presence right now! Do I act as such?
