Survival: Live for the Best, Be Prepared for the Worst

Tennie Smith
Survival importance has gone from a good thing to know if you're on vacation to something you may need to know to survive the worst situations you can possibly think of. The threat of terrorism, the severity of violence in schools, the dreaded thought of other countries gaining access to weapons of mass destruction and even the increase in natural disasters should have us all thinking about the possibility of the end of the world in our time here on earth. Will you be prepared to survive on your own and help your family survive on their own if a threatening situation calls for it?

The thoughts of the end of the world are a little too frightening for most people to think about. Some may even decide not to let it enter their mind and just go on with their everyday life like nothing could possibly happen to them. The seriousness of these situations should make everyone stop and think. The fact that there is a possibility of your county being under attack, especially if done so by a weapon of mass destruction should make you want to be prepared to be able to survive on your own. To be able to live without the luxuries you sometimes take for granted.

The most important things to know in case you ever need to is how to get food, water and shelter. The ways to obtain these will be different depending on where you live. For example, finding food, water and shelter will be very different in the mountains than it will be living near the desert. If you are not familiar with the surroundings you have in the area you live in, take some time to learn them. There are several books in print about the trees and vegetation in all areas of the world. Buy one that corresponds to where you live, learn the types of trees and plants you have growing around you and what you can do with them. Find out what natural things you can eat and how to find drinkable water in the area you live in. Get to know the outdoors and the basic survival steps like building fires and making shelters. Make sure you have a survival kit in your house to be prepared for natural disasters as well. All of these things might not seem important in your comfortable everyday life, but the possibility of needing to know these things becomes more relevant every day.

The Bible talks about the end of time being a time of great war. If you haven't noticed most countries are either in a war with another country, in an alliance with another country at war or they are in war against themselves. Even if you don't live to see a time where you have to rely on your own survival skills to save yourself and your family, wouldn't you like the peaceful thought of knowing you could? Take a little time to be prepared for a bad situation. Gain the power of knowing you could take care of you and your family if you had to. Pray for the leaders and defenders of your country, that they will continue to protect you. Remember to enjoy and cherish every moment of every day with your loved ones. This is the only life you get. Live positively and use prayer to enjoy God's power in your life. Always live for the best and be prepared for the worst.

Hmmm, doomsday scenarios..... try not to think about it, but maybe it would be best to get some supplies in order...

Dec. 21, 2012, the clock is ticking. Right on the money, those who will survive are those who know how to survive. My skepticism about the end of time is less and less every day. We are being pulled toward the Black Hole so to speak.
