When Venturing into the Unknown, Make Sure You Have These Key Components

Jim Kelly
Survival is the most dominant instinct in any animal on planet Earth. We are all biologically designed to survive at all costs. Ever heard of fight or flight? The reason humans are around today is because of this concept. Our ancestors, from when homo sapiens were first around, had to make decisions when facing dangerous animals or other treacherous obstacles, and those who ran, more often than not survived. Those who fought, more often than not died. We are the descendants of people who knew their survival depended on running away.

If you are an adventurer, going out into the wild is a thrill. Surviving out in the wild is a whole different story. There are ten distinct things you need to survive out in the wild, or even if you just want to go camping for a weekend. Some of them our just in case, some are absolutely necessary. Outside of these ten, you must bring a knife, it is so versatile and it is essential in surviving.

Here is a list of the ten objects you need if you are going out into the wild, no matter what.
1. Matches. Making a fire is also essential in keeping warm and cooking food. It is possible to make fire without matches, but having them is just a convenience that you will be ever grateful for. Bring two boxes to be safe.

2. Candle. A candle can also cook food and you can bring it inside a tent and it will eventually warm up the tent without having to bring an entire fire underneath your shelter, which is dangerous for fire and smoke alike.

3. Flint. In case you lose those matches, flint is essential in making fires. It will make your life so much easier.

4. Magnifying glass. Once again in aids in creating fire, which seems to be common among surviving. It can also help in the removal or splinters and stingers.

5. Needles. You will also need some thread as well for fishing lines and for sewing up deep cuts.

6. Medical Kit. It seems redundant, but you will be sorry if you do not bring a complete medical kid along for the journey that includes, sedatives, water sterilizers, and plasters.

7. Beta light. A flashlight that can last up for twenty years will come in handy when you are off in the middle of the night. It also does not extinguish like a candle or match might.

8. Compass. If you are headed in a certain direction you'll clearly need one of these essential tools, and even if you are just going hiking, knowing your positioning will help you from getting totally turned around in those deep woods.

9. Fish hooks. Fish are the most prevalent food out in the environment, and fish hooks are superior to trying to catch fish with your hands. Use the thread from the needles as a line.

10. Blades. Preferably, surgical ones, they can be used as a tool or to cut the fish you just caught for dinner.
