The first thing I would recommend is going to a tanning salon. I know there are some people out there who are dead set against it but just a few sessions for a few minutes will give you the feeling that you are laying out in the sun. It is okay in moderation if it is for the sake of your sanity. Just imagine as you feel the warm lights that you are on a tropical beach soaking up the warmth of the sun. If you are concerned about getting burned just wear some good smelling tanning lotion with SPF of your choosing. This will prevent aging and you can still enjoy the serotonin boost you get from the light.
The next thing you need to do is get moving. This creates endorphin as well. Join the gym or phone a friend to go with and actually go. Be sure to dress in layers as you warm up and shed your clothing as you work out. This keeps you healthy and sane. The benefits of a good work out last through out the entire day and you are sure to get a good refreshing nights sleep. Which brings me to my next point.
Sleeping is all we want to do this time of year. Resist the urge to turn on the T.V. and pull the covers over your head. Take that vitamin c and get a good breakfast filled with antioxidants such as fruit and oatmeal. This is important because you really need to do all that you can to stay healthy and fight the energy drain. Now is the time to start planning for your tax refund. Put together a plan and a budget and stay positive as you work out a savings plan.
Last, understand that you are not the only one feeling depressed but it will pass. Try to do the activities you enjoy and involve your friends and family. Not only is body heat good but we really do feed off of each other and we need each other. Make a movie, finish your scrapbook from summer vacation. Paint a room in your house a cool color, play Guitar Hero or Nintendo wii.fit (these get you moving a little).Get a library card and read about a cool place you'd like to save up and travel to someday. Get excited about a future goal and dedicate every fiber of your being to having something to look forward to, even if its just a cozy night in with friends ...you provide the cheeses and have each couple bring a bottle of wine and remember that laughter is the best medicine.
