Surviving the 2012 Crisis

Brian Schultz
It is all over the web 2012 this 2012 that, people are freaking out because the Mayans did not make a calendar that went beyond 2012. Further more some time back other people made predictions about what will happen in 2012, some have said that we will have massive earth quakes, others have said that a meteor will hit the earth. Truth be told I do not know what is going to happen in 2012, maybe we will have a major earthquake and maybe a meteor will hit the earth, but if you think about it the people in Haiti probably feel like their world was ending when they had their earthquake.

As I said earlier I can not tell you exactly what will happen in 2012, I am sure however, that somewhere there will be an earthquake or a major fire or a storm that will make those that the disaster has effected feel as though their world is coming to an end. The question however, is how to survive that situation and come out ahead. In this article I will give you some suggestions how to survive the 2012 crisis.

If you look at people who have been in past disasters you will find that those who are affected the worse are the ones who are not used to doing with out modern conveniences. I know many younger people today that would be lost with-out a microwave and their video games, they have never known anything else. Although video games are fun and microwaves are convenient, they will not help you in a crisis similar to any of the 2012 scenarios that you have read about in the past.

If you want to survive the 2012 crisis, begin learning traditional camp skills and survival skills. At this point it is 2010 and you have almost 2 years to prepare and train your self to survive and live in less than desirable conditions. Prepare a bug-out bag and practice camping out with it, begin studying Experimental Archeology, that is the study of how our ancestors did things and then you copy it or learn it so that it is second nature. Two very good resources to help you survive the 2012 crisis are, Tom Brown and Cody Lundin.

Why do I need to practice Experimental Archeology you might ask? To understand you need to put yourself in that situation, a disaster the size of the 2012 disaster is going to require you to live and act like a Native American or at least like the frontiersman of the 1750's or early 1800's all the modern equipment that you know now will disappear after a while.

Here are some suggestions to help yourself in any crisis:

Begin learning Experimental Archeology.

Begin a exercise program.

Learn a Martial Art.

If you do not know how to fire a weapon, learn.

Stock survival supplies and know how to use them.

Have a network of people that you trust.

Most important, DO NOT expect the government to bail your ass out, in a disaster of this magnitude the government probably will not exist.

As you can probably tell I am skeptical about what the 2012 doomsayers are preaching, but I do know for a fact that somewhere we will have an earthquake or a major storm, that will deprive people of the modern conveniences. If you do not know how to live with-out you will not live.

I remember a high school teacher saying he wanted to learn a martial art because it was necessary for future survival. This is full of great ideas, Brian!!

If surviving 8 days without water, heat or electricity during our last major snowstorm counts, I think I'm ready! :)

    Personally so do I.

However, I think 2012 will come and go as did 2000...

Everyone should know some survival skills. It is appalling to me how many young people don't have any idea about what plants are edible or non-edible, or even what many vegetables look like when they grow. Or how to clean a fish...even basic ideas of food gathering are beyond them.

I know how to light a match.
