Surviving a Business Trip with Your Kids in Tow

S. Ann
If you are a young parent who needs to keep you career and at the same time take care of your baby, you should learn to take your baby along during your business trips especially this holiday season. Spending the Holiday away from your kids simply because you need to earn some money to keep your family comfortable is really out of the question so bring your kids and your spouse along when you have to go on a business trip this Holiday season.

Bringing your kids and your spouse along on a business trip may sound complicated but if you know how to keep things on the right level, you can survive the trip. Surviving a business trip with the whole family could be a bit challenging. You will need the cooperation of the whole family to make the trip successful. To ensure the cooperation of the whole family, you should call everyone for a meeting and explain to them what you are going to do in this trip. You must let your kids understand that you want to be with them for the Holiday and the best way for the whole family to be together is to bring everyone along during your business trip.

Since this is going to be a business trip and vacation rolled into one, you should make sure that your kids will understand that there are certain times of the day or night when you will not be available to them. Make them understand that you will be working most of the time but will try your very best to find time for them. Do not make any promises to your kids if you are not sure you can keep these promises. The best way to ruin a trip is for you to have a disgruntled kid in tow.

Booking Your Accommodations

If you are attending a meeting, convention or other business activities, try not to book your accommodations in the same hotel where you are expected to meet with your clients. Find a separate hotel or resort where your family can stay so that you will not end up running from one room to another trying to play the parent and the business person all at the same time. When booking your family on a hotel or resort, make sure that the place has some activities to keep them occupied. There are many resorts and hotels that are child friendly so be sure that you book your family in one of these places.
