Surviving a State of Emergency in Michigan

Are we now in a state of shock? I think many will be surprised because they didn't think it would happen. It might not happen if everyone can reach negotiations over a new budget.

My question is: How long have they had to do their homework on the new budget? I know they didn't just start working on this last night.

I am not trying to do any finger pointing, but I do wonder who has been sitting on their thumbs this time? This whole thing affects a lot of people. I guess that's OK, as long as those in the padded leather rolling chairs that call the shots get their pay checks all is good.

Eyes are often wide shut and everyone else is ignored unless it directly effects their own wallet. It is time, we start thinking about the possibilities of all types of things that could go wrong. You would think that 9/11 was a major wake up call? It was for a while, but then after the dust settled, it was business as usual!

Is anyone prepared for this? I seriously doubt it. There will be no problem as long as you do not need to get a tag for your vehicle, or renew your plates or Driver's license.

If this is any clue as to what we are headed for in other states watch out!

Salvation Army funding is dried up until the first week in October. The State of Michigan has no emergency funding until who knows when.

Brace yourself Michigan residents; we are in for a ride.

My suggestion is, don't panic, keep positive and look for help in other places. If you do not have a church family, now might be the time to get involved. They may even be able to help you.

Call your landlord, utility company and let them know what is going on and that you are trying to get your needed help! In most cases they have already heard the news and will be patient and understanding.

This will be a time when we can draw together as families and that includes extended families.

Remember, eventually, they will come to an agreement.

We have been given a little warning about the problem, which means, that we can do some pre-emptive planning in case it does happen.

Keep in mind, it could always be worse, we could live in a country where there is no help!
