Survivor host Jeff Probst starts off the live reunion show of Survivors: Heroes vs. Villains, by congratulating the first two-time winner of Survivor, Sandra Diaz-Twine. Does this make her the best Survivor ever? Sandra thinks so but Parvati disagrees saying she has played the game 3 times and is a challenge dominator.
The Russell Hantz Show
Of course, Russell also disagrees. Right off the bat Russell Hantz starts whining because for the second time in a row he did not win at the game of Survivor. He tells everyone how he feels: Sandra should not have won; she had no social game; she had no strategic game; she has to be the worst ever at challenges (she has never won a Survivor challenge); her sole strategy was to get rid of Russell and she failed miserably at that so let's reward her for her failures. Russell's new theory for losing is that there is a flaw in the game - the flaw is that America should have a part in the final vote, not the Survivor peers that have been playing the game with you and seeing firsthand how everyone is playing the game. Come on Russell - America only sees the parts of Survivor that the CBS editors wants them to see on their TV screen, unlike, say, American Idol, where viewers can at least hear the whole song being sung, not just a few seconds before they cast their votes for a winner. Survivor is 39 days; 936 hours. People at home only see 14 hours of those 936 hours (and that's not even correct because that time includes commercials). So what happens in those other 922 hours we don't see? Jeff tells Russell to go play "that game" if he wants to win based on America's vote. Jeff asks Russell if he is surprised that he didn't win - he didn't even get one vote. Russell's response is, "Let me tell you how good I am," and holds up the letter that JT wrote to him during game play, "When I can make a winner look like the dumbest player in the history, then that means I'm good, right?" JT, who is sitting directly behind Russell snatches the letter from his hands and tries to toss it into the fire. Darn! Russell grabs it back in midair! Jeff points out to the audience and TV viewers that, "This is what it was like every single day out there" with Russell. Out of the blue, Russell says that Parvati should have won. Jeff says that again is a different game; that is called Russell decides who wins Survivor. Jeff questions Russell on his social game asking if he is aware of what he is doing to people before they are a part of the jury which will decide the winner. Russell doesn't care about the social game. All he wants to do is get to the final 3, and he's done that twice in a row...and lost twice in a row. Boston Rob agrees that Russell plays a good game to get to the end but he doesn't play a game to win because he ignores the social aspect of the game. Russell turns to Rob to ask, "You play the game to win and how many times have you won?" Rob says yes and I haven't (we all know the same thing can be said about Russell), but given the opportunity he'd be glad to go back and kick his ass all over the island. Jeff says maybe that's another season - the Rob vs. Russell show. This is a good idea; let Russell and Rob hand pick their own Survivor teams and go head-to-head in a season. But first we should let Russell rest a while.
Dumbest Move in Survivor History
TV viewers have been voting for the Dumbest Move Ever in Survivor History and the winner is about to be announced. In the running for this title are Erik, James, Tyson, JT and Colby. These Survivors' dumbest moves were:
Erik was voted off after giving an immunity necklace away.
James was voted off with 2 hidden immunity idols in his pocket.
Tyson swaps to vote with the Villains, an immunity idol is played and he is voted off.
JT gives an immunity idol to the other team.
Colby chooses the wrong person to take to the finals.
JT wins the title of making the Dumbest Move in Survivor History.
In other Survivor trivia, Parvati has played Survivor for 114 days (the most days for any player) and is tied for second in most individual challenge wins. Colby Donaldson holds the record with seven. Amanda, Sandra, Parvati and Russell are the only 4 Survivors to have made it to the finals twice. In 20 seasons of Survivor there have been 306 episodes, they have visited 15 countries, had over 300 people play the game, nearly 500 challenges, 11 men and 9 women winners with an average age of 32, twice as many single people win as married, and it is about dead even when it comes to men vs. women and how long they last in a game.
Sprint $100,000 Player of the Season
In an online vote, America gets to choose who they think is the Sprint Player of the Season. Once again it's good versus evil with Rupert and Russell in the running for the title. America has voted for evil over goodness by awarding Russell Hantz the Sprint player of the Season and $100,000.
