Two Realty TV Icon Shows Will Have Open Casting Calls Soon in New York, Arkansas and Miami

With a million dollar top prize, it's no wonder CBS reality shows Survivor and The Amazing Race have been around for quite some time. While both shows will have their finales this May, it will be time to once again start the process of looking for new contestants. Survivor 14 and the Amazing Race 11 will both have casting calls within a few weeks. Here are the details.

An open casting call is sponsored by a local CBS affiliate TV station. Besides applying directly to be on the show, the open casting call alleviates the need for the contestant to make their own audition tape. All you need to do is show up. A short video will be made at the open casting call, and the folks at the local television station take care of the rest. They will forward your video to the right CBS personnel. You do not need to supply a videotape, and you do not need to bring your passport to the casting call.

There are two open casting calls that have been listed for Survivor 14. On May 14 from 11am-4pm, WROC/WUHF will be hosting an open casting call at the Lilac Festival in Rochester, NY. On June 10th from 11am-3pm KFSM will sponsor an open casting call for Survivor at the Central Mall in Fort Smith, AK.

For The Amazing Race 11 there are several open casting calls that have been put together. KFSM will host an open casting call for The Amazing Race May 20 from 11am-3pm at the Central Mall in Fort Smith, AK. Folks in Rochester, NY will have a chance to partake in an open casting call May 21 from 11am-4pm at the Lilac Festival.

On May 24 from 5pm-8pm, WRGB in Albany, NY will give Amazing Race hopefuls their chance at Taft Furniture, located on Central Avenue. WFOR in sunny Miami, FL will host an event May 27 from 1-4pm at GameWorks at Sunset Place in South Miami.

Prepare for the open casting call like you would prepare for a job interview. Give careful thought as to what you want the CBS executives to know about you, and why you would make a good contestant on either Survivor or The Amazing Race. Research what approach has worked for other contestants when it comes to the audition tape. This will be your first impression to the powers that be. Make sure it's strong and memorable. Try not to portray yourself as disingenuous but as a sincere contestant hopeful.

Okay people of the network, stop putting rich people on television and give us poor people a chance. I'm tired of being broke and I want to see the world too.

Hey, would you for once stop putting people on the show that already have enough money to do their own traveling..People such as myself who aren't attornies, stars, who have been on television etc, I'm tired of seeing people on shows who have everything already, give us poor folks an opportunity..

We have an idea to make the Amazing Race more attractive to international viewers by including casting calls all over the world... we live in Australia and would love to be part of the race! So a season of international teams would be great!
