Survivor China Joins the Anti-Christianity Movement

Along with the View and Big Brother

I love reality television and I also love God. The 2 aren't a lot alike and when I am really honest, I admit they have very little to do with each other. As I watched Survivor China this season and watched Leslie literally get kicked off because of her religious beliefs, I noticed a pattern. It is perceived to be okay to trash Christians today.

One of my favorite talk shows has a personality (not a favorite of mine) that acts as if God is a joke. She once threw a biblical character on the floor after Elisabeth introduced them as characters that children can play with that are being sold at Walmart. I saw no outrage from anyone. I knew that if that had been a Jewish person or anything relating to Islam, people would have been outraged. Why?

During this last season of Big Brother, Jameka was a woman who had strong beliefs in God. We witnessed CBS giving a lot of air time to the viewing of Jameka praying. It sounds nice right? No, it was making fun of her with ridiculous religious, church music being payed in the background. But just a year before, reverence and respect had been given to Kaysar and his Muslim religion.

During Survivor China's first episode, Leslie had decided against praying to gods that she didn't feel respect towards. Instead of just showing that and moving on, Jeff Probst called her out in front of everyone, therefore lessening her chances of winning a million dollars. A couple of episodes later, she left because she bonded with another Christian and was considereed a threat.

Why is loving God and showing respect towards him frowned upon in Hollywood? I realize that his principals are not exactly matched with those of most of our Hollywood actors. I mean God asks us to love others, to help others, to put Him first. I mean how does self righteous behavior fit into that? It doesn't.

I wish we could respect every religion and give every person the choice to worship as they see fit without insult or disrespect. This country was founded on the religion that is being mocked today. Whether it is a reality show, a talk show or my child's school, it is hard to watch my religion and my God being mocked.
