Survivor: Heroes Vs. Villains Episode 1

Good Faces Off Against Evil

"I've always tried to show that good will win" says Rupert Boneham at the beginning of Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains, wearing his trademark tie-dye. "I'm a gangsta in an Oprah suit" declares Cirie. These two, along with the other Survivors, arrived on the Samoan island of Upolu in helicopters. Rupert was excited to be on Survivor again: "I'm finally back in the game," he says.

Russell, who had 12 days to recover and didn't know whether he won or lost during Survivor Samoa (because the finale had not occurred yet), said to the cameras that he didn't want to get too star struck, being around people like Boston Rob and Parvati.

The heroes arrived first, giving hugs to each other and being nicey-nice. The villains arrived second, with the helicopters whipping up the sand... the heroes all turned their backs to avoid getting sand in their faces, and the music changed to an ominous, evil tone. Great editing there.

When Jeff asked, Sandra, and several other castaways, thought that they were on the wrong teams. Jerri thought that she definitely belonged on the villains side though.

It was time for the first reward challenge. The tribes went out in teams of four. They had to dig up a bag, then they had to fight over the bag and get it to their side.

Four ladies went out for the first round. Cirie was big and strong, but Danielle ended up earning a point for the villains team. Stephanie dislocated her shoulder during the struggle. Medical popped Stephanie's shoulder right back. You could hear it pop back in.

In round 2, one man and one woman from each team competed. J.T. took the bag for the heroes.

Four men fought in round 3. Russell got the bag out of the sand, but there was an immediate dogpile. Colby grabbed it, and carried the bag with Tom on his back for a bit. After a struggle, Coach ended up on Colby's back, and drug him to the villains mat.

In round 4, four ladies competed. Candace grabbed the bag, but Courtney was dragging her down. Sugar ended up getting it, then the bag was tossed, but everyone was all tied up. Sugar ended up losing her top, and ran with the bag to the finish for the heroes; she then proceeded to flip off Sandra for taking her top off.

During round five, four men duked it out. The strong James ended up taking it away for the Heroes tribe, winning the game. Rupert broke his toe, but he said that he wasn't going to get out of the game for a broken tie.

After the challenge, the villains started working on the shelter. At the same time, Russell took Danielle aside to speak to her, telling her that he wanted to go to the final two and trusted her. Danielle thought that he would stick with her, so they created an alliance. Unfortunately, she didn't know his past. Russell then said the same thing to Parvati, but she knew that he was saying the same thing to everyone else. Russell compared himself to Michael Phelps and Michael Jordan, saying in the confessional that he was going to prove that he was the best in his game.

The heroes voted on where they were going to have their shelter, then they got to work. There was a chicken running around in the forest. Could one of them be one of the chickens that Shambo lost about a month ago? The heroes acted quickly, plotting to catch some dinner by grabbing their net and capturing the chickens.

That night, Tyson mentioned that he was almost happy to a degree that the heroes were injured. Jerri was surprised by Coach, and mentioned that she wanted to get to know him better; the feeling was mutual. In the morning, the rest of the villains were teasing them about how love might be brewing between the two of them. Though it might not be love, they did create an alliance.

On the Heroes tribe, the Survivors started dividing up into alliances. Many of the people that had played the game together were already forming alliances together. J.T. said that he wasn't going to play the game the way that he did before, and that he was going to play the game a little more darkly.

Rob complained that the people on his tribe weren't working very hard; the Villains were complaining that they didn't have any water, so they couldn't really work without water for energy. Randy thought it was pointless to make fire without flint. Rob rubbed some sticks together and got a flame going, and Randy and Tyson looked at Rob with amazement.

Rob was thinking about climbing a palm tree for the fronds, but he told Amber that he wasn't going to do anything stupid. He challenged Coach to do it instead. Rob and Sandra had a $1 bet over whether he would do it or not. Rob thought that he would be able to do it, but he lost his bet.

On the second night, the Heroes were trying to sleep, but Sugar wanted to talk. Sugar was trying to flirt with Colby, but he wasn't interested in her. Colby found her to be annoying, and was upset that he didn't get a good night's sleep because of her.

The Heroes decided to kill one of the chickens so that they would have some energy for the first challenge. They decided to kill the rooster first because it couldn't produce eggs like the hens. When they arrived at the immunity challenge, they told Jeff about how well they were doing, and the Villains complained about how their situation was not as good.

For immunity, six tribemates from each tribe would grab boat parts to build a boat. Then they were to sail out and get a torch and light it with the fire that was coming out of a cauldron that was sitting in the water. They then had to take the boat apart, as they would use parts of it later. The remaining four survivors would have to put a puzzle together. When the puzzle was together, they had to build a ladder with the planks from the boat. After the ladder was put together, the tribe would then insert the puzzle, and climb the ladder for the win.

The Heroes worked together and had an early lead, putting the boat together first. The Heroes retrieved their fire at about the same time as the Villains put their boat together. The lead started to disappear as they put the puzzle together. The Villains solved the puzzle first, then got up the ladder first for the win. Sugar cried. Colby, who obviously doesn't like her, thought that was a sign that she needed to be the first to be voted out.

As the Villains returned to camp, they were all excited, discussing among themselves who would be voted out first. They figured that the Heroes tribe would be falling apart at the time.

Some of the heroes thought that Amanda should go first; they thought that James had a strong alliance with her. Others, including Colby, wanted Sugar to go. Tom suggested getting rid of Cirie instead. Cirie thought that they might want to get rid of Tom or Stephanie; although these people were very strong physically.

At tribal, Jeff questioned about the reasons why people would vote each other off. He wondered whether prior relationships would come into play, whether the weak links would go first, or whether past success would make a difference. In the end, nearly everybody voted Sugar off the island; Sugar was the only person to vote for someone else; she voted for Amanda.

Wouldn't expect Sugar to vote herself off - cheers on the nicely written summary.
