Survivor: Heroes Vs. Villains Episode 5

Who Hurts the Tribe More

In Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains Episode 5, everybody knew that J.T. had turned on his alliance to vote out Cirie. J.T. tries to make it seem like he voted off Cirie for the team, but Rupert isn't too happy with his decision. J.T. promises to Amanda that he would never turn on them, but she seems to have her doubts. Smart girl.

Over at the Villains camp, Coach is leading the tribe on a form of Eastern, yoga-like exercise, except for Russell, who went and looked for the immunity idol instead. Russell found it while they were all busy.

The reward challenge was similar to the game of basketball. There were three balls, and the tribes had to shoot the balls into their basket. Three members from each tribe would stand on a platform near their basket, while the other three tribe members were on the floor. Whenever a basket was made, the individuals on the floor would switch with the individuals on the platform. The reward was an afternoon feast of chocolate, with chocolate cake, chocolate bars, and chocolate cookies as part of the reward. Jeff passed around samples of chocolate. The Villains ate the chocolate, but the Heroes refused. They said they were too focused (just take the chocolate).

During the challenge, James hurt his leg. Medical was called, and they were afraid that he might have torn a muscle. He had to sit out of the challenge. Amanda scored the first basket for the Heroes. Tyson made a basket for the Villains, as Rupert threw Jerri on the ground. Nothing happened as a result of that action, and Jerri recovered to make the final basket for the Villains.

The Villains enjoyed their reward. They feasted on chocolate, and then some went to swim in a beautiful salt water pool. While everyone at the pool was planning to vote Russell out, Russell let Parvati know that he had the idol. He also told Coach, who thought that he was honored to be told his secret. Coach seemed to imply that Russell was the king, and Russell knighted him as a royal subject (now, if only Coach really knew who Russell was).

Away from the reward, the Heroes were discussing whether James would come back or not; when they look up, he was hobbling down the beach. He had a splint on his leg and was limping, but he was there. Some, including Candace, were worried that he wouldn't be much good to the tribe with a bad leg.

For the immunity challenge, one tribe member was a caller, while the others were blindfolded and paired up. The caller would direct the blindfolded members to giant puzzle pieces arranged in a field. Jerri was the caller for the Villains, while James was the caller for the Heroes.

Both tribes ended up with three puzzle pieces at about the same time. Both callers did a good job communicating to their tribemates. The Villains were one puzzle piece ahead, then the Heroes brought a puzzle piece in to tie it up. Rupert and Candace found the final puzzle piece first, and they were able to start solving the puzzle before the Villains arrived with their final piece. Although the Heroes had a head start, the Villains had a history of solving their puzzles quickly. The Heroes once again fell behind during the puzzle segment, and had to go to tribal council that night.

The Heroes were demoralized. Many were talking about voting out James because of his injury. Rupert and J.T. discussed voting out Tom instead of James; Candace thought that it could be a "risky move". Rupert considered voting Candace out instead. Although J.T. spoke of voting out James with Rupert, when talking with Colby and Tom, he seemed to indicate that voting James out made the most sense. While J.T. seems to be befriending both sides, he is not really fooling anybody, and is seen as wishy-washy by most of his tribemates.

At Tribal Council, James said that he could beat Jeff in a race, even with a cast on. James put the blame on Tom and Candace for losing the puzzle portion of the game, while Tom and Candace thought that James was just saying that because they were trying to vote them out. Just prior to the vote, James said that he wanted the tribe to win, and if they didn't think that he could out-perform Tom, then to vote him out.

The tribe decided to vote out Tom, five votes to two. Whether the alliance between Rupert, James, Amanda, and J.T. caused the tribe to vote out Tom, or whether they truly thought that James could outperform Tom, remains to be seen.
