The Survivor Reward Challenge: Family Visit
The next morning, treemail arrived. Inside, there was a Palm Pre (Survivor often uses product placement as a way to subtly advertise). In the phone, every Survivor had a video from a loved one. Last season, they did not have a family visit. In the afternoon, they went to their reward challenge.
All of the Survivors had the opportunity to hug the friend or family member that came out to see them. It was Rupert and his wife Laura's twelfth anniversary. The Survivors had to compete to see their loved ones more. For the challenge, the Survivor would go to the beach, fill a can with water, and then throw the water at their partner, who would try to catch the water with a bucket. The family member would then pour the water into a larger bucket; the first team to fill this bucket would win. The winner would fly out with their loved one for a picnic and a chance to see "the blowholes," which is a location at the beach where water would shoot up from holes in the rocks.
Colby and his brother Reid were having some trouble. Colby started to lose his temper. Russell and his wife Melanie, along with Rupert and Laura, were doing well. Jerri and her sister Jennifer did a little better, and ended up winning. They were able to choose one Survivor and their loved one to come along. Jerri chose Parvati, and Parvati asked if they could take along one more person. Jeff agreed, and she took along Sandra and her uncle.
After the Survivor Reward
Russell thought that it was a horrible idea for all the girls to go on the reward by themselves. He whispered to his wife Melanie "she's in trouble now". As they left to go back to camp, Russell immediately started to work on getting on Colby and Rupert's good side.
At the blowholes, the Survivor girls had a great time. They were able to throw objects into the holes, and water would spout up, shooting the objects high up into the air. After they spent time at the beach, they moved a little bit farther inland to eat. They had a good amount of food. While they ate, they talked about strategy, and seemed to form their own alliance. They were going act as a group, no matter what Russell thought.
Rupert's Mistake
Back at camp, Russell allied himself with Rupert and Colby. Rupert recognized, however, that Russell was still a villain, and was still a liar. Even so, he thought about taking Russell to the final three, thinking that it might help him win the million.
That night, Rupert was keeping the other people awake that night by chopping firewood, for some reason. Jerri was especially bothered, as she couldn't fall asleep. She got up and talked to Russell, trying to patch things up after not taking him to the challenge.
The Immunity Challenge
For immunity, the Survivors held onto two poles. A horizontal beam above the poles held them in place, as long as the Survivor put upward pressure on the poles. Fifteen seconds into the challenge, Colby dropped out. Less than a minute into the challenge, Sandra dropped out. Russell was the next to go. Jerri dropped her pole, and it was down to Parvati and Rupert. Rupert's pole started to slip. Parvati's pole started to slip. Although it was close, Rupert's pole dropped first, giving Parvati the win.
After they returned from the immunity challenge, Russell spoke to Parvati, and decided to go back on his word and vote out Rupert out instead. Sandra approached Rupert and suggested that they vote out Russell. Instead of agreeing with her, Rupert decided to vote with Russell instead. Rupert reported to Russell that Sandra was trying to vote him out. In response, Russell approached Sandra and asked her "are you for me, or against me?" Sandra said that she was against him, and her and Parvati laughed at Russell. Russell spoke to Jerri and suggested that they vote out Sandra. Sandra mentioned on camera that this was the last night to use the idol, but that she wasn't going to use it because she felt comfortable about not getting voted out.
The Survivor Vote
During Tribal Council, Rupert mentioned that it might be a good idea for a Villain to keep a Hero around. He suggested that this would help them prove that they were a top Villain. He was hoping to convince Russell to vote for Sandra.
Although Sandra wasn't planning on using the hidden immunity idol, she decided to use it anyway. As the Heroes were trying to vote her out, it could have been a good move. It wasn't necessary, as Russell voted with the rest of the Villains to get rid of Rupert.
