Survivor Micronesia: The Finale Recap

It was One of the Greatest Seasons of Survivor Ever, and the Voting for Who Would Win was Just as Great

Survivor: Micronesia -- Fans vs. Favorites has certainly been one of the greatest seasons ever, and to some it was the best season. What made this season so great though? Where do I start? There are so many things to point out, so I will post them below.

- More contestants left the game in the history of Survivor without even getting voted out: Kathy had a mental breakdown and couldn't take it anymore so the boat came and picked her up. Jonathan and James both left due to potentially fatal infections caused by injuries.
- The 16th season of Survivor certainly was the season of blindsides.
- The final four consisted of all woman, which has never happened in any season of Survivor.
- There were plenty of absolutely "dumb" moves that will never be lived down by the contestants, and there were plenty of new hidden immunity idols after they all were eliminated: Ozzy and Jason not playing their hidden immunity idols, and the master of all dumb moves, Erik handing his immunity necklace over to Natalie, which would have guaranteed him a spot in the final four. While there are arguments that can back Erik's move to give his immunity up, you surely should not do that when there are only five people left and you are nearing the Survivor Finale. Erik is now officially ranked 'The Dumbest Survivor' ever.

Let's end the suspense, if of course you happened to miss the finale of Survivor: Micronesia -- Fans vs. Favorites...

Parvati is the soul Survivor of the 16th season, and it literally came down to the last vote. In past seasons, the voting is usually lopsided. This season however, was a huge surprise. The voting went like this:

-- Parvati, Amanda, Parvati, Amanda, Parvati, Amanda, Parvati, Parvati --- Parvati wins by a score of 5 - 3.

Quite amazing I must say. Parvati won by a single vote! I seriously thought that Amanda had it in the bag, but once the jury had their chance to speak to both Amanda and Parvati, she totally had a huge brainfart. I guess Amanda didn't know how to sell herself to the point where she could have won the million dollars, but she really didn't have to. She could have just sat there and said either: "ok," "yeah," or "no," but she had to go and explain certain things, which she shouldn't have, obviously.

"I couldn't have done it without the girls that I was with," Parvati stated during the finale. Even though it was the girls this time around that pulverized the guys, it could have possibly been a different game if there weren't so many injuries. The woman simply outweighed the men in the second half of the game, so it was almost impossible for them not to get their ways, unless of course the woman lost an immunity challenge. Oh wait... They did. Erik was the guy who gave his immunity necklace to Natalie, which in turn allowed the woman to reach their goal of eliminating the Erik, which was the last of the men.

This "Fans vs. Favorites" game was definitely run by the favorites, there is no doubt about that. The final three consisted of girls that were all among the favorites, Cirie, Parvati, and Amanda.

James, who was the most dominant male in Survivor history unfortunately couldn't finish out the game due to an injury, but he did win a nice chunk of money. When Jeff Probst announced the SprintSpeed Player of the Season, there were three names that Jeff called out, Amanda, Ozzy, and James. James kept telling himself and his other castaways that it couldn't be possible... Again. But it happened to be James' night, as it was during Survivor: China. James won $100,000.00.

We cannot forget about the main relationship that started between Ozzy and Amanda, and if it wasn't for Parvati, they would have had a lot more time on the island together. Ozzy blatantly called Parvati out during the final tribal council and told her off, but once they all were reunited in NY for the finale, everything was fine as Ozzy sat right behind Amanda. Ozzy and Amanda held the suspense for long enough during the finale, but they made it quite clear that they are still together. Good for them, they make a cute couple. Heck, maybe they will tie the knot? Other Survivors have in the past.

Since Survivor has been renewed for at least four more seasons, Jeff announced the location of the 17th season. Jeff Probst will return as the next round of potential Survivors will compete for the grand prize in Gabon, Africa. The title has officially been released as 'Survivor: Gabon --- Earth's Last Eden," which will premiere this fall (fall of 2008). The third season of Survivor was filmed in Kenya, Africa, so we have seen Africa before, but Gabon is quite different than Kenya. I am definitely looking forward to the next season, as should all of you Survivor fans!

Congratulations to Parvati for 'Outwitting, Outlasting, and Outplaying' all of the Survivors in Micronesia, you played a strategic game that was cut-throat most of the time, but you even admitted it. Use your money wisely. James, I also want to wish you a congratulations for receiving the most votes as the 'SprintSpeed Player of the Season,' you played a great game while you were there, and if it weren't for you being evacuated off of the island, you probably would have had a great shot at winning. Until next time, see ya in Gabon!
