Survivor Nicaragua Episode 11

It was raining when Survivor Nicaragua episode 11 began. The Survivors returned from Tribal council, after voting out the once dominant player Brenda. Kelly S. was surprised when she saw the results of the vote, and felt like she was in trouble. Sash was also outside of the dominant alliance; however, since Sash had the idol, it would be more difficult to get rid of him. He would have to be blindsided in order to be voted out.

Miserable Weather in Nicaragua

In the morning, the river was an overflowing, raging river, and the bank was washing away. The Survivors were miserable, huddled underneath the tarp in the shelter. The tarp wasn't even a perfect shelter, as it had been burnt during the fire, and there was a hole in it.

Naonka was in pain. She had anemia, and the rain and the cold was hurting her joints. My husband has sickle cell anemia, and he has an intolerance for cold; during cold, miserable conditions like this, he sometimes has to be hospitalized; I can tell you that anemia and cold is no laughing matter. Kelly S. was having difficulty coping too. Like a suicidal person that gives away all their possessions, Naonka was ready to give up; she gave Chase her immunity idol.

While Kelly and Naonka contemplated leaving, several of there players were still scheming about who to take to the end. Benry and Fabio were not too sad to see Naonka and Purple Kelly in pain. Jane, Holly, Sash, and Chase planned on who to vote out next.

Survivor Reward Challenge

For the reward challenge, the players were divided into two teams, colored yellow and blue. Each team had to untie an eight foot Gulliver doll, and take him through an obstacle course. The teams could not drop Gulliver, or they would be sent back to the beginning. The winning team would be able to go to the Survivor Cinema, where they could see a sneak peek of Gulliver's Travels and would be able to snack on movie treats like popcorn, hot dogs, nachos, drinks, and candy.

Because there was an odd number of tribe members, Dan was not chosen for one of the teams, and was allowed to choose which team to root for. He chose to back the blue team, consisting of Holly, Naonka, Benry, and Chase.

As the challenge started, the blue team was ahead, but the yellow team quickly caught up, and untied their Gulliver first. Gulliver had to be carried through a mud field, then had to be sent over a large wall of logs. The yellow team was slightly ahead after the log wall. Blue was very close, but yellow was still ahead after the next obstacle, where they drug the dummy through a set of ropes. During the final obstacle, blue took the lead, although yellow fought hard. The blue team won the reward, making Dan happy.

Quitting Survivor?

Even though Naonka was on the winning team, she announced that she was going to quit, and it was going to be her last day. When Jeff heard her announcement, he asked if anybody else wanted to quit. Kelly announced that she wanted to quit too. Jeff didn't like watching them quit. He told them that he didn't want them making a rash decision, and wanted them to think about it for the rest of the afternoon. If they still wanted quit that evening, he would let them go.

Jeff made a deal with the blue team that had one the reward. He said that if one of the Survivors from the winning team would sit out of their reward, he would give them a second tarp and for some more rice, since their rice and tarp was destroyed in the fire. Without much hesitation, Holly decided to forego her reward so that everyone would have something to eat and a more comfortable place to sleep.

After the Challenge

After Holly and the rest of the yellow team returned to camp, Holly told Kelly S. that she needed to suck it up and continue. Holly had gotten them a tarp and more rice. She told Kelly that Kelly didn't want to be remembered as one of those girls that quit Survivor.

At the Survivor Cinema, everybody was excited to have hot dogs, drinks, nachos, and candy to eat. Most of the people thought there thought that Naonka should have given up hear spot at the reward for the tarp, but Naonka (speaking only to the camera) said that she wasn't about to give up the reward after putting 110% into winning the reward. "I'm no fool," she noted. What she should have said was "I'm not selfless." Naonka felt better after the movie and the food, and for a while, figured that she had a chance to win a million dollars. Unfortunately for her, by acting selfishly that afternoon, she increased her chances of being voted out.

Tribal Council

Everybody arrived for tribal council that night, even though there had been no immunity challenge. Holly said that on day five, she wanted to quit, but she decided that quitting wouldn't be the answer. Jeff asked why Naonka and Purple Kelly wanted to quit. Naonka was complaining of her aching joints. Kelly was miserable because it was so cold. Jeff asked Naonka if she thought that she had a chance of winning, and Naonka said "yes" (while the jury laughed). Naonka said that one of the reasons why she had a good chance at winning was her drive (at one time).

Jeff asked about the deal he offered with the tarp and the rice. Naonka said that she didn't want to give up her reward; she wanted to go out with a bang. Jane said that life was tough, and that there were people out there that had it worse than they did, and they weren't playing Survivor. Jeff asked Naonka if she still wanted to quit; she said yes. Purple Kelly also said that she wanted to quit.

"You want to go, go," Jeff said to Naonka as he put out her torch.

"Head out," Jeff told Purple Kelly.

Quitters don't get the honor of hearing "the tribe has spoken." Kelly and Naonka's unlit torches were going to stay at Tribal Council, to remind them, as they returned as members of the jury, that they had quit. Although there had been quitters in the game of Survivor before, Naonka and Kelly S made Survivor history when they became the first two Survivors to quit at the same time.
