The Surivors at Espada
The members of the Espada tribe were having difficulty sleeping. They decided to redo the shelter. Jimmy Johnson was in a leadership position, assigning people to different tasks. Jimmy T. suggested that someone go fishing; he was a little upset about how the former NFL coach was telling everybody else what to do. Marty was okay with letting him take the lead; he thought that if Jimmy Johnson failed in his leadership capacity, it would be easier to vote him off.
Holly felt like she was an outcast in the tribe. She thought that she needed to show that she was a tough competitor. Unfortunately, she was having a little bit of difficulty getting along with her tribemates; she threw away some snails that some people were planning on eating. The other castaways started to think that she was crazy. She filled up Dan's $1600 alligator shoes with sand and dumped them into the river (now, who takes $1600 shoes to compete on Survivor is beyond me, but it still wasn't right to dump them). She was beginning to think that Survivor wasn't for her. Rather than hide the fact that she dumped the shoes for the rest of the season, she confessed to the crime later that day.
After the shoe confession, Holly took Jimmy Johnson aside, telling him that she'd like to go home. Jimmy Johnson wasn't sure that voting her out would be the right thing to do. He asked her to give her best for the next challenge, and to not quit the game.
Meanwhile, at La Flor
At La Flor, Naonka was getting along well with Sash. Sash suggested to her that they put together a minority alliance; Sash was half-Jamaican. They both thought that Kelly B. was a threat, and that her leg would be a problem.
Naonka couldn't find her socks. She thought that someone was taking her socks and playing tricks on her, so she took Judson's socks and started wearing them. When Judson confronted her about taking his socks, she got an attitude with him.
The Survivor Immunity Challenge
For the challenge, La Flor once again marched in with a choreographed dance. To win immunity and a reward, four of the Survivors from each tribe would climb through a muddy obstacle course, then look for a ball in a haystack. When the tribes found all four balls, the remaining players would use boards to bounce the ball into a bucket. The older tribe used the medallion of power, which allowed them to already start with one ball in a basket. The medallion then went to La Flor. Since the younger tribe had one extra player, Naonka sat out.
The Espada tribe started out ahead, but La Flor was close behind in the race to find the first ball in the straw. The younger tribe caught up. La Flor put their first two balls in before the older tribe got their first ball in (although La Flor needed to put four balls in the basket, while Espada only needed three). Tyrone scored the second out of three balls for his tribe, and Espada was ahead. Tyrone then scored the final ball for Espada, winning the challenge for his tribe. For the reward, Espada chose fishing gear. Along with the fishing equipment, there was a clue for a hidden immunity idol. The Survivors started looking for the idol. Marty found it, after Jill figured out the final part of the clue and realized that it was 15 yards west of treemail.
After the Immunity Challenge
After La Flor returned to camp, many of the tribe members thought that Kelly B. kicked some butt at the challenge. Her reputation as a helpless, legless person was shattered. Some of the tribe members thought that Brenda should go; other people thought that Naonka should go because of her attitude.
Naonka thought that Shannon should be voted out. She thought that he was a threat, scheming with everybody. Brenda agreed with her that Shannon should go. Chase told Brenda that his friends wanted her to go; Brenda tried convincing him that Shannon should get the boot. Alina evidently overheard the conversation; nobody was sure what side he was on, or who they could trust. This level of scheming is rarely seen prior to the very first tribal council.
Survivor Tribal Council
La Flor entered tribal council and lit their torches. After Jeff asked the first question, the fireworks began to fly. Chase came clean and admitted that he was with two alliances. Many of the people on the tribe couldn't trust each other; many of the Survivors started arguing. Shannon asked Sash if he was gay; when Sash denied it, Shannon said that New York was full of gay people. Naonka thought that they had been in a unit prior to going to tribal council. She admitted that she didn't like Fabio (Judson), stirring up even more animosity.
Before the vote, Kelly B. said that she would vote for someone whose departure could promote unity. While I'm not sure that unity will be achieved for quite some time, Shannon was voted out. Brenda received three votes against her.
