Survivor Nicaragua Episode 3

As Survivor Nicaragua episode 3 began, the younger La Flor tribe lacked unity, while the older Espada tribe seemed to get along fairly well. The question of the day was, would Shannon's departure make things better?

La Flor Unifies?

After one of the most candid first tribal councils ever, most of the La Flor tribe was ready to unify and get over old wounds. Naonka wasn't buying it. She didn't like how the tribe pretended to be all happy and wanted to unify. She wasn't interested. If her tribe doesn't get rid of her soon, it looks like the unity that they want won't stick around.

Most of the tribe thought that Judson, AKA Fabio, was an idiot. They saw him as a funny idiot, but an idiot nonetheless. Judson didn't want to be kept around because he was funny. They wanted to think that he brought a good spirit to the tribe as well. Not everybody liked him though. Naonka didn't like him from the beginning, but who does she like, aside from herself?

The departure of Shannon made the Survivor alliance containing Brenda, Naonka, Kelly S., Sash, and Chase feel a little superior. The dominant alliance figured that they would vote out Alina, then Kelly B. Benry and Fabio would be needed more for the challenges, so they planned to keep them around for a little bit.

Meanwhile, at the Espada Tribe...

At the Espada camp, the Survivors heard howler monkeys. Several members of the tribe decided to see where they were, hoping that the monkeys would lead them to fruit. Jimmy Johnson was howling at the monkeys. Marty wasn't amused, but then again, he has never been amused by the things that Jimmy Johnson does.

Marty announced that he wanted to share the immunity idol with the rest of the tribe. Most of the tribe thought it was a nice thing. Tyrone thought he was being shady. Marty hung it up on a hook for everyone to see. Away from the group, he admitted on camera that he really didn't intend to share, and that he was just leading the others to believe that he was going to share.

Dan was having a little bit of trouble with his knee. He was trying to hide it, but it could be a hindrance during challenges. Other people were noticing that he was having difficulty physically.

The Survivor Immunity/Reward Challenge

For the combined immunity and reward challenge, the Survivors had to get 10 barrels that were out in the surf, and roll them into a marked off area. Once the Survivors retrieved all 10 barrels, they had to line them up on small platforms. After that, the Survivors had to throw bean bags on top of all 10 of the barrels. The reward was a fruit basket, a few herbal plants, and some sauces.

In exchange for the Medallion of Power, Jeff would allow the La Flor tribe the opportunity to have two of their barrels already set up with bean bags on them. The younger tribe chose not to use the medallion, figuring that they could win this challenge without any help.

La Flor had a head start getting the barrels to the platform, but once the tribes started throwing the bean bags onto the platform, Espada started getting ahead, thanks to Tyrone's great throws. The older tribe was ahead with a 6-3 lead, but then Espada's lead evaporated. The younger team got up to 9 while Espada was still at 6. Coach chose to have Jimmy T. start throwing. Jimmy T. scored one more bean bag, but the younger tribe scored the 10th bean bag, along with reward and immunity.

After the Challenge

When Kelly B. and Naonka picked up the fruit basket, they saw that there was a clue inside. When they arrived at camp, Naonka pushed Kelly aside so she could grab the clue. In the process, she threw fruit on the ground and smashed some of the bananas. Some of the Survivors were a little shocked with her behavior, but Naonka didn't care. She admitted on camera that she'd do it again. "I'll push [Kelly B.] so hard that damn leg will fly off," she noted. She showed Brenda the clue after she couldn't figure out the rebus on her own. Brenda didn't seem to be of much help.

Over at Espada, the tribe was having a team meeting. Jimmy T. complained about how Jimmy Johnson didn't use him to the best of his capability. He complained how Tyrone was allowed to throw more than anybody else. Tyrone's throwing had put them in the lead for most of the challenge, so it was to their advantage to use him.

Marty wanted Jimmy Johnson to go. Jill personally didn't think that was the best idea, and that Dan should go next, but she was willing to vote with her alliance. Jimmy Johnson thought that Dan was the weakest player and should be voted out. Holly and Jane really liked the football coach, and didn't want him to leave. Yve told him "you're my favorite person here."

Tribal Council

During tribal, the concept of leadership came up. Many admitted that they looked towards Jimmy Johnson for guidance, and that he was the tribe's leader. Jimmy T. admitted that he hadn't really had the chance to talk to Jimmy Johnson. Jeff was surprised that Jimmy T. hadn't really had a long conversation with him, considering that Jimmy Johnson was a celebrity. Jimmy T. revealed that he considered Jimmy Johnson to be a threat to his leadership.

The discussion shifted to Dan's health. Not everybody thought that he was the fittest. Jimmy T. said that he thought that there were a few weak players. Jeff asked each player whether they thought that they were one of the weakest. Everybody except Jimmy Johnson said that they thought they were not one of the weakest. Perhaps Jimmy Johnson was the only honest person in the bunch, or some of them weren't really good at assessing themselves.

In the end, the tribe decided to vote Jimmy Johnson out, and he was the third person to be voted out of Survivor Nicaragua. Whether it was the coach's honesty, growing dissatisfaction with his leadership, or his physical weakness, all of the other Survivor players on his tribe decided that it was time for him to go. This may or may not have been a good decision.
