Survivor Nicaragua, Episode 3 - Coach Jimmy J. Voted Off

Insecure Men Eliminate Espada's Strongest Leader on Survivor Nicaragua, Week 3

Wendy Dawn
Coming into season 21, episode 3 the teams are once again equal, both having sent one member home. This week La Flor tribe had to find some way to reconcile following a fierce tribal council last week. While Espada had to work through growing resentment against NFL coach Jimmy J.

Tribe Espada Survivor: Nicaragua - week 3
Marty and Jimmy T. were aggravated with Jimmy J.'s role as leader. They have been from the start. Marty tried to take Jill aside and dig at weaknesses with coach Jimmy.

The coach hasn't done anything but help his tribe, build encouragement, and help lead. I think the men who have trouble with him are insecure.

Jill, who helped Marty find the immunity idol, encouraged him to let the tribe know and work on tribe unity rather than pick out members to attack at this point.

Marty let the other members know that he had an immunity idol. Jimmy T. went overboard singing Marty's praises. Others were not so sure that his sharing the fact that he has the immunity means anything for the tribe. In the long run, Marty will use immunity for Marty, not to make the team stronger. There really is no way to make that work. When someone has to go, someone has to go. Marty can and will only save Marty.

Tribe La Flor Survivor: Nicaragua - week 3
NaOnka was not willing to help build harmony among her tribe. Her constant contentious attitude may get her voted off Survivor Nicaragua sooner than later.

Jud, aka Fabio, continues to act like a dumb blonde, surfer - which he is. He wants to be liked and accepted on a deeper level, but he constantly does things that are dizzy.

Kelly B. and Alina were in the sights of their tribe before they ever went to challenge. Sash seemed to emerge as a leader among tribe La Flor, with Shannon out of the way.

Survivor Nicaragua Challenge, week 3- Barrel Race
The teams had to collect barrels, line them up, and toss beanbags on top of the barrels. La Flor was in possession of The Medallion of Power, but decided not to use it. It didn't seem like a good idea at the time, but things worked out in La Flor's favor.

The older tribe got off to a strong start with Tyrone tossing bags for Espada. Benry managed to pull La Flor from behind. Jimmy T. was chomping at the bits to get the job done for the older tribe. He got his chance, but he couldn't beat Benry from La Flor.

La Flor won immunity and a reward of a Survivor Nicaragua vegetable garden. NaOnka and Kelly B. both saw an immunity idol clue hidden in the fruit basket. NaOnka stormed over Kelly B., squished the bananas, and grabbed the clue for the hidden immunity idol.

NaOnka needed help deciphering the clue, so she showed the immunity idol clue to Brenda.

Espada before Tribal Council Survivor Nicaragua, week 3
Jimmy T. was the first to speak when Espada got back to camp. He said that he has skills that were being wasted. Tyrone was brought into question for missing a few shots at the barrels. Coach Jimmy J. was questioned for taking the helm, while Dan laid low because he isn't contributing very much to the team.

Marty rallied members to get rid of Jimmy J. He wants rid of coach so he can take the leadership role, but with Jimmy J. voted off it is going to become a contest between Marty and Jimmy T.

Jill is the wisest player on team Espada, but she agrees to go along with Marty in order to keep herself in a better position later in the game.

Marty connived to get rid of Jimmy J. because he felt it would rock Espada to its core. He thinks the team needed that to expose weaknesses and gel under leadership other than the coach's. That doesn't seem like a smart strategy. I would have gotten rid of the weakest link, which is Dan, but Marty seemed to have his way convincing people to get rid of coach.

Espada at tribal council, Survival Nicaragua, week 3
Espada was a lot more civil at tribal council than La Flor, but as always there had to be a vote.

Jimmy Johnson was voted out of Survivor Nicaragua, which was their loss. He was the only level-headed leader, other than Jill, who is holding her skill set close to the vest, at this point.
