Survivor Nicaragua episode 4 started off with a storm. It was the night of tribal council, and the rain was pouring down on the Espada tribe. Jimmy T., happy that his perceived rival Jimmy Johnson had been voted out, was singing and annoying his fellow tribemates.
Espada's beach was covered with debris after the storm cleared in the morning. Their stream had turned into a rushing river as a result of the storm. Their food supplies were running low. Jimmy T. tried fishing with a net, but he wasn't doing a very good job, even though he was supposedly a professional fisherman.
The tribe had to reassess how they were going to do things. During a tribe meeting, Marty suggested that Tyrone call the shots during the challenges. Jimmy T. said that he wanted to play a lot, and it was obvious that he was somewhat upset that he hadn't been given the leadership role.
When the tribe picked up treemail, there was a blindfold inside. Anticipating the kind of challenge they were to do, they practiced following directions while blindfolded. Tyrone practiced being the caller, while the others listened to his directions.
La Flor
At La Flor, Brenda figured out the immunity idol clue that Naonka had received when she pushed Kelly B. to the ground. They figured out that the idol was eight yards west of treemail. Naonka ended up getting the idol. Later on that day, Alina and Kelly B. tried to find the idol. While they were searching, Naonka approached them with a snotty atttude and told them that she didn't like them.
The Challenge
The challenge was for both immunity and reward. The Survivors would be blindfolded, with the exception of one caller per tribe. The caller would give directions to the other tribemates while they picked up 10 items. The medallion of power would allow La Flor the advantage of starting out with two items. La Flor decided to use it. The reward was a choice of three different sets of items provided by Sears.
La Flor started with a lead, and continued to increase the lead as the challenge progressed. By the time that they retrieved all 10 items, Espada had only recovered four items. La Flor then had to recover a set of keys and a chest. They were finished with the challenge before Espada had even found all the items.
Back at La Flor
With the win, La Flor was able to choose items that they wanted from Sears. They received a knife set, a tackle box, and a tarp. When Chase looked into the tackle box, he found a clue to the hidden immunity idol. He took Brenda to go search for the idol with him. She told him that she had already helped Naonka find the idol, but she didn't want her friend to know that she told him about the find.
Before Survivor Tribal Council
Espada had a meeting after they returned to camp. Jimmy T. boasted about his leadership skills during the challenge and complained that they hadn't fully utilized him, yet he had not really contributed much during the challenge that day.
The tribe hit the beach to look for sea urchins. The sea urchins were pretty small, but it was food. Jimmy T. complained that Marty was eating some sea urchins at the beach, and questioned whether he was a team player or not.
Jill told Holly that she was going to write Dan's name down. They both liked him, but they were concerned that he was the weakest player and that he needed to go. Marty tried to convince Jill that Jimmy T. needed to go. When Marty approached Tyrone, Tyrone commented that he wanted to vote out Dan.
While everybody was trying to decide who they were going to vote out, Jimmy T. continued to tell the other players about how he wanted a chance to take the lead for one challenge. He wanted people to put him in. On the beach, he pleaded his case with Yve. In private, he remarked that his tribemates were hard to get along with, although he was easy to get along with. He didn't really get the clue that since he had problems with everybody, maybe was actually the one that was hard to get along with.
Tribal Council
At tribal council, Dan remarked that he had difficulty getting around in mud, and by sitting out, he was helping the tribe. Jill was bothered that they were still losing. Jimmy T. once again mentioned that he wanted one opportunity to take the lead for a challenge. Marty didn't necessarily think that Jimmy T. needed to take the lead, and that they didn't need players with delusions of grandeur. Holly said that maybe they should give him a chance. The consensus of the tribe was that Jimmy T. should follow rather than lead; Jeff asked if he would be okay in the follower role. Jimmy T. said that he was okay with the role of follower, but he was obviously upset.
Jimmy T.'s reluctant acceptance of his role as a follower was a little bit too little, too late. All the Survivors but himself, Holly, and Jane wrote down his name, while they voted for Dan. Perhaps the tribal chemistry on Espada will be better next episode.
