The Merge
As Survivor Nicaragua episode 8 began, Marty felt vulnerable. His ally, Jill, had been voted out the night before. He no longer had the immunity idol. While Sash gave his word that he wouldn't vote him out, in Survivor, that means little.
At La Flor, Fabio came into the camp with a key from Treemail. The La Flor tribe was told to pack up all their belongings, because they were about to move for the duration of the game. At the other camp, Espada found a trunk, and was told that company would be arriving soon with the key. The merge seemed imminent.
Alina gathered her tribe together and suggested that all of the current Espada tribe stay together after the merge. She suggested that they vote Marty out next. Not everybody necessarily agreed. Many were tired of her and wanted to vote her out next.
When La Flor arrived at Espada tribe, they opened the trunk. It was full of food, new red buffs, and a note that said that they had merged. There was also rum in the chest. Marty suggested the name "Libertad," meaning liberty, for the new tribe.
Naonka the Thief
While the tribe celebrated the merge, Naonka decided to sneak some of the food in the chest into her clothing. She put some nuts into her bra, and some more food in her pants. She was happy to see her old friend Brenda again; Brenda caught Naonka up to everything that had happened while she was away.
The next day, Naonka took some flour out of the trunk and hid it out in the woods, because she was upset. When she made tortillas, everybody else took them first and left her with the smallest one. In addition to stealing fruit, she also stole fruit and hid the pan. Unfortunately for her, Holly saw her take the flour out of the trunk.
Naonka may be a thief, but she's a pretty smart one. She approached Alina and brought her to her secret stash of fruit. She told her that everybody wanted to get rid of her, and shared some of the fruit that she stole from the rest of the tribe. She didn't really care about Alina, but by showing her the stolen fruit and sharing it with her, Alina was put in the position of keeping quiet, or ratting on her friend and then looking guilty herself.
Who's The Thief?
Fabio and the other Survivors saw that the frying pan, some fruit, and flour were missing. Holly, knowing that Naonka had taken it, asked if she had put back the flour after she had taken it out. Naonka said that she had put the flour in her backpack, but she lied and said that she put it back afterwards.
After some of her allies talked to her, Naonka went back to the tribe and confessed that she had stolen the flour. She claimed that she had only taken the flour because she believed that the flour had been disappearing too fast. Most people were not buying it. Her allies wanted to keep her around anyway, believing that she could a be smart choice to keep around because she wouldn't have a chance to win in the final three.
Survivor Immunity For Two
For the immunity challenge, the Survivors would hold onto an upright metal bar with two handles. They had to keep tension on the bar by pulling the handles apart, or it would drop onto the tile and break it. There were two immunity necklaces up for grabs: one for the last man standing, the one for the last woman to stay in the competition. Purple Kelly and Dan dropped their bars and broke their tiles within seconds of the competition starting. Alina lost hers shortly afterward, followed by Brenda and Benry. Sash and Naonka lost it next. Holly was the last woman left, leaving Jane as the winner for the women. Even though she won, she wanted to stay in the game to beat the men.
Marty dropped out of the challenge next, leaving Fabio and Chase left to compete for the men's immunity. Chase dropped his, leaving Fabio as the winner for the men. Jane dropped her tile on the ground, not breaking it.
Scrambling
Jane really wanted Marty out, but some of her allies wanted to get Alina out. Sash had told Marty that he would keep him around for another round if he gave him the immunity idol. Jane wasn't thrilled with the idea of voting out Alina (she did not write her name down at tribal council either).
Marty was getting paranoid. Dan told him that it would be either him or Alina that would be voted out, although he didn't know that Sash wasn't planning on voting him out because he gave his word. Although Sash wasn't planning on voting for Marty, Alina, Jane, and several others did consider attempting to get rid of him. Alina approached Fabio and asked him if he would consider voting for Marty.
Tribal Council
When tribal council began, Marty almost immediately brought up the fact that Jane didn't think that he liked her. Marty suggested that Jane had a sad story, and would win the money if she ended up getting to the final three.
Dan mentioned that Naonka and Alina had stolen food. Naonka admitted to stealing the food. She took all the blame upon herself, telling others that Alina didn't have a part in stealing the food. She said that she had returned the food, and that she had already been punished. When Jeff asked how she had been punished, Naonka said that "nobody would talk to me." Awww, how sad.
Alina had the chance to redeem herself at this point, but she didn't take it. She also assumed guilt for stealing the food, even though her part in the theft was nearly nonexistent. Alina could have told the others that she didn't steal the food, yet didn't squeal on her friend either, but she didn't. It may not have made a difference; most of the others wanted her gone at this point anyway.
Most of the tribe agreed that it was time for Alina to go. The only two people who voted for Marty were Alina and Jane; everybody else voted for Alina.
