Survivor Nicaragua Episode 9

Jane Vs. Marty

Brooke Lorren
In Survivor Nicaragua Episode 9, the battle to not be eliminated continued. While Jane wanted Marty to get booted from the game and Marty schemed to have Jane removed, Naonka continued to cause trouble, at least during tribal council.

After Survivor Tribal Council

After the tribe returned from tribal council, the Survivors were upset about how Marty attacked Jane at Tribal council. Jane wasn't the only one to notice his attack-dog behavior; others thought that he went overboard as well.

Marty tried to figure out who had written his name down, other than Jane. Sash surmised that it was Holly. In a scheme to get rid of Jane, he formulated a plan to make everybody believe that his alliance was going to vote Naonka out, in order to get her to use her immunity idol; meanwhile, his alliance would vote for Jane. He spent much of the morning scrambling.

Survivor Reward Challenge

For the reward challenge, the Survivors divided up into teams, and would go through an obstacle course. Obstacles that they would encounter included going through hay, then winding keys that had been threaded through a wire, crawling through nets, breaking through bamboo, and breaking through brick walls. The reward was a tour of the countryside, ziplining through the treetops, with a barbecue at the end with chicken, steaks, sodas, and beer. Since there were an odd number of players, Chase did not get to compete. He chose a team to root for. When the Survivors drew for teams, all the men ended up on one side, and all the ladies ended up on the other team. Chase chose to root for the women.

The teams were tied through the bamboo stage. The ladies started to slow down after that point. The men had trouble at the net crawl, allowing the ladies to catch up just a little. Then Jane started to get tired. The men increased their lead, breaking through the brick walls with ease. The women had trouble breaking the brick wall. The men ended up winning by a landslide (or maybe a brickslide).

Jeff asked if one of the men was willing to give up their spot to allow someone else a chance to go to the barbecue. None was willing to give up their spot. The ladies (and Chase) went back to camp hungry.

After the Reward Challenge

After the reward challenge, the men rode the zip line through the jungles. Danny held on to the zip line, looking like he was trying to slow down the ride. They enjoyed their beer, barbecued meat, pie, vegetables, and more. While they ate, Marty talked strategy. Sash played along, but he wasn't really interested. He didn't want Marty telling him what to do.

Back at camp, the girls were happy that Chase rooted for them, although Brenda thought that was a stupid move. This group decided that they wanted to vote out Marty. Chase wasn't sure whether Brenda was on his side or Marty's side, as Brenda wasn't as talkative as she was before. Brenda was a little annoyed at his paranoia.

Survivor Immunity Challenge

When the guys returned from their reward, Treemail arrived. Their memory would be tested for this challenge. One person would receive immunity. They would have to memorize a series of symbols. When a player forgot one of the symbols in the sequence, they would be out.

Everybody memorized the first two symbols. Jane and Naonka could not remember the third symbol. Dan forgot the next symbol. Holly, Purple Kelly, and Sash were eliminated next. In the second round, Fabio was eliminated first, followed by Chase. Benry was eliminated next, leaving Marty and Brenda. When Marty couldn't remember the next symbol, Brenda received immunity.

Tribal Council and the Vote Scramble

The "male alliance" that Marty was trying to dominate still planned to say that they would vote out Naonka, but would really vote out Jane. They wanted Naonka to use the immunity idol, but wanted Jane to be voted out. Marty gave his plans to Brenda, believing that she was part of his group. Brenda agreed with him as he spoke to her, but she didn't want to be Marty's lackey. She believed that she and Sash were in control of the game.

Brenda spoke to Sash before the vote; they decided that keeping Marty around for a couple more rounds might be a better idea then letting Jane stick around. They didn't like how Jane and her friends were making demands. They believed that they were in control, and whatever they decided would be what would happen.

At Tribal Council, they talked about Marty's rant against Jane from the last tribal council. Jane was seen as a threat because she seemed to be a likeable person, while Naonka was seen as more of a troublemaker. Jeff brought up Naonka's food theft again. While she acted like it was a trivial matter, Marty remarked that it was definitely not. Naonka admitted that she didn't like Marty at all, while Marty agreed that he didn't like her either. Naonka didn't stop at that comment though; she continued to talk about reasons that she didn't like Marty. When Fabio acted like she couldn't believe what she was saying, Naonka said that he irritated her too. It looked like she wanted to dig her own grave.

Although Naonka looked like she was trying to dig her own grave, the alliances stuck to their original plan. Marty and his friends Benry, Dan, and Fabio voted for Jane, while everybody else voted for Marty, who became the tenth person to be voted out.
