After Tribal Council
Last week both tribes had to face a Tribal Council and vote a player off. Dan dodged another bullet on the Espada tribe when they voted Yve off instead of him. Tribe mates are hoping this decision will not come back and bite them in the butt in challenges. Already Chase is gunning for Alina to be sent home at their next Tribal Council.
At La Flor, Marty questions why the young people didn't clue him and Jill in to vote for Kelly B instead of Jane to get rid of her on the first vote. Sash flat out told him they were trying to slush out the idol which is why the other half of their alliance voted for Marty.
Survivor Reward Challenge: Jump Shot
Tribes will compete for a Nicaraguan farm experience where the wining tribe will ride horseback to the farm, milk a cow for fresh milk, and enjoy a home cooked breakfast meal. In Jump Shot one team member will be standing on a small platform in the center of a pool. Opposing tribe members will jump off a dock and try to toss a small ball into a net on the other side of the pool behind the defending player. The first tribe to get 5 balls into the net wins the reward challenge. Dan tries to throw the ball from the dock and then jump which gets him a reprimand from Jeff saying he has to jump and throw the ball while in the air. It also causes his tribe mates concern that with his bad knees he can't even jump from a low dock into a pool. On the way to the platform acting defender Fabio pauses before climbing up. When questioned by Jeff what was taking so long Fabio responded he was taking a leak in the water. When ya gotta go, ya gotta go! Espada wins the reward with a five to three score and goes on to the farm to enjoy fresh made cheese, milk and eggs.
Jane Wants Fish!
As the La Flor tribe sleeps, Jane is out gathering firewood and running lines to catch fish. Sash thinks it is wonderful they can take advantage of the older people's work habits which gives him more time to relax and do nothing. When Jane goes back to check on her fish lines she finds she has caught a few catfish and decides she is hungry enough to sneak off into the woods and treat herself to one whole fish. After all, she is the one who caught all of them, why shouldn't she reap the reward of eating one? I don't blame her. You go, Jane!
Survivor Immunity Challenge: Cannon Ski-Ball
Individual immunity is not in play for this challenge. The tribes are competing head-to-head where 2 tribe mates try to roll a ball down a ski shoot to break their opponents' tiles on the ground. Other tribe mates will hold ropes attached to the shoots to aim them at the tiles. There are three levels the rollers make shoot from and two sizes of cannon balls to choose from. The first tribe to break all five of their opponent's tiles wins immunity from Tribal Council.
Benry and Alina are the rollers for Espada, while Chase, Holly, Naonka and Dan hold the ropes. Brenda and purple Kelly are the rollers for La Flor with Marty, Jill, Fabio and Jane take hold of the ropes. While Brenda argues with her tribe mates on the positioning of the ski shoot, Espada takes advantage with a 3-1 lead. While La Flor argues, Espada continues to break their tiles and wins the immunity challenge with a score of 5-2.
The Fate of Marty's Immunity Idol
The young tribe members still don't like the fact that Marty has an immunity idol. It's probably not so much the idol itself, but the way Marty waves it around in their faces. I like the idea that they are trying to get rid of the idol instead of bowing down to him like players think they should to a person holding an idol. They decide to split their votes once again, giving the majority of the votes to Marty (3) and the remaining 2 to Jill, and then tell Marty what they plan on doing which would force him to play the idol. Sash wants to take it one step further and try asking Marty to hand over the idol to him in good faith that Jill will be the one voted off and not him. When Sash approaches Marty with this idea, Marty realizes he's either gone tonight or gone at the next Tribal Council, but the game changes so much the idea is to stay in until you have to cross the next bridge you face. Marty's goal is to stay alive until the merge where he feels he would have a better chance of survival. And the merge could be right around the corner; you never know. Marty decides to give the idol to Sash when Sash sweetens the deal by promising to give the idol back after Tribal Council. That sounds like a two-forked statement if I've ever heard one, but we'll have to wait until the next episode to see if Sash is true to his word. Marty handing the idol to Sash has Sash boasting about not having to dig for idols himself because people will just hand them over to him. Groan!
Survivor Tribal Council # 7: La Flor
Jill goes into Tribal Council knowing that she is the next target. My question is if she knew what the votes were going to be and the goal is to stay alive to face the next Tribal Council, why not vote for Marty? That would have at least made the vote a tie and there would have had to be a revote. Admittedly, the tribe had already decided to vote Jill off, but why not take a chance at that one glimmer of hope? But Jill did not vote for Marty; she and Marty voted for Jane. With La Flor showing they are true to their word, 3 of the remaining 5 votes were cast for Jill. Jill Behm, a 43-year-old ER doctor from Erie, Pennsylvania is the eighth player to get their torch snuffed on Survivor: Nicaragua.
