This season's Survivor began differently then all the rest. For the first time in Survivor there will be four tribes instead of two, and each week one survivor will have to spend the night alone on the island - away from the rest of his or her tribe mates - until he or she is allowed back into the game. The four tribes consisted of the Older Women, Older Men, Younger Women and Younger Men.
During the first reward challenge - Skull Crush - the losing tribe had to elect one tribe member to stay on Exile Island alone. The younger women lost when Danielle returned empty handed. Danielle said since she lost the challenge she would spend the night alone on the island, but the rest didn't think she should have to since she participated in the challenge. In order to decide who spent the night along the women played a game of "rock, paper, scissors," and Misty lost.
But before Misty was left on the island alone there was a bit of good news for Misty, and for any others who may have to spend the night alone on the island. Jeff announced, "hidden somewhere on the Island is an Immunity Idol. Find it, and you will be safe from Tribal Council!" I think if I were the one stuck on the Island alone I would spend my time searching for the Immunity Idol, and that's just what Misty done. Misty figured that the Idol may be buried so she dug through leaves, dirt and etc.. but had no luck.
Once Misty's returned back to be with the rest of her tribe mates, she led the others to believe that she had found the Idol…Smart move I think. We'll see how it plays out. Besides, we all know eventually someone will find the Immunity Idol, and when they do, like all the Survivor shows, Misty will probably take a lot of heat for lying. She didn't really lie though if you think about it, she only led the others to believe she found it, she never really said she found it.
All the tribes met-up to compete for Immunity so that they would be safe from tribal council. After a challenging go the Younger Women, Older Men and Younger Men won Immunity and became safe from tribal council. Sadly, the older women had to return to camp to decide who they were going to vote off.
Feeling susceptible, Cirie tried to formulate a plan to save her own butt. She suggested to her tribe mates that they vote out Tina. She told them they needed to get rid of the stronger players. However, when Tina returned to camp with a big fish Cirie was feeling the pressure again. I can't say that I blame Cirie, if I felt I was going to be voted out I would've done the same thing. After all, who wants to be the first one voted off.
As the Older Women arrived at tribal council it appeared that they were going to vote Cirie off and keep Tina around. But when Jeff questioned everyone, and Tina made the comment she did about the others not working as hard, it bought her a ticket home.
Personally, I think I would have looked passed her words and confronted her about them later. Tina had survival skills, and Cirie had no outdoor abilities at all. It looks to me like survival skills don't matter, at least to the Older Women anyway. They look at you as competition. Of course, Rupert, I'm sure you all remember him, he was an exception to the "competition" rule. He lasted a long time before he was voted out.
Each week I will end with a survival tip. The survival tips will be for those of you who are considering going on the show. The tips may help you to help your tribe if you get to be one of the lucky contestants chosen. This week's tip....one thing you see each tribe do in the beginning is struggle to make fire.
If you plan to be on Survivor it would be wise, and can work out in your favor, to practice on making a fire by rubbing two sticks together. Yes, it can be done, and Survivor has proved that it can, but it takes a lot of time and practice to get it just right. So while you're waiting to go on Survivor practice your fire making skills so you'll be ready when the time comes. That's it for this week. I'll be back again next week. Leave your comments before you leave.
