Surya Henna Cream in Chocolate - Product Review

Surya Brasil was founded by Clélia Angelon in 1995. She runs the company along with her husband who is from India. The first product manufactured was the Surya Henna Powder. The company grew from a small operation located in Brazil to shipping products all over the world. The ingredients for their organic hair coloring, shampoos and body care come from the countries of India and Brazil. The products are all natural, vegan and most recently some of their products have been certified by Eco-cert.

The company has been in business for 25 years and embraces the Ayurvedic principle: "Know how to live in harmony with nature and oneself using elements that do not harm the body".

A little background on Henna products:

Comedienne Lucille Ball made red hair look glamorous. She used henna on her natural blond hair for her signature look. Most of the commercially made henna hair dye on the market is made with chemicals like heavy metals, parabens, resorcinol and metallic salts that can burn hair that has been previously colored with dye. Products like Surya Brasil, Light Mountain and Mehandi Henna are 100% natural and organic and do not contain these chemical and salts so it is perfectly safe to use these products on dyed hair.

The Trial:

I did some research on the company and the product before trying it. All of the reviews were positive with customers saying they would buy the product again. I looked at several review sites before making the decision to buy it. I have previously dyed hair so I had to be sure. The product I chose is the Surya Brasil Henna Cream hair dye. It comes pre-made in liquid form and it very easy to use.

It required no mixing at all. The instructions said to wash the hair using a clarifying shampoo to help it adhere to the hair better. So I shampooed my hair and used a vinegar rinse with no conditioner. The henna hair dye can be used on damp or dry hair. I personally think it is easier to apply to damp hair.

After applying the color to my hair I put on the plastic cap that is included and set the timer for 45 minutes. This is just an estimate so if you have hair that is hard to color it is OK to leave it on for an hour.

When the timer went off I rinsed all the color out of my hair and was very happy with the results. It was a little dark at first but it fades a little at a time. My hair felt very soft and better than it has in years. Natural henna will improve the condition of your hair over time. The color is temporary and lasts about six weeks or so depending on how often you wash your hair. I was very satisfied with the product and will continue to use it.

The average cost of the product if purchased at the website is $ 11.99 but is available through health food stores, beauty supply outlets and pharmacies.

Other products from this company:

The Amazonia Preciosa is a line of hair and body care products, shampoos, conditioners, hydrating hair masks, and a natural cosmetics line.
