Susan Boyle and Her Health Concern

Her Popularity and Her Hospitalization

Popularity and pressure are probably new things for Susan Boyle.

Susan, the crowd favorite of the latest Britain's Got Talent search, was hospitalized briefly after her whirlwind rise to stardom.

Boyle lost to the street dancing act of the group called Diversity in this most popular amateur talent search worldwide. Observers say that it was such a surprise that Diversity won while the well-loved Susan lost. Others say that it is because of jealousy that the people didn't vote for her to win.

I well remember that Susan suffered humiliation a few months back when people in the audience hooted as Susan entered the stage during the auditions. Her dress was ugly and her hair was not even styled. She is a church volunteer and her dress spoke that way. Critics then called her "frumpy."

But when she started belting the famous "I Dreamed a Dream" from the Broadway classic Les Miserables, people simply marveled at her powerful singing voice. Such was her performance that people gave her several minutes of standing ovation after her 1-minute performance.

Susan became an overnight sensation. The once jobless church volunteer from Scotland became an instant celebrity. Her youtube fame was spreading.

I really thought that Susan was already the sure winner. However, she wasn't. And many were sorely disappointed, including me.

Susan was hospitalized after the show, because they say that it was mental fatigue. I guess that is true because she really suffered tremendous stress from the time she was plucked out of anonymity. Let us remember that Susan was once nobody, enjoying her mundane activities in Scotland.

Now she is world-famous. And after the pressures of the contest were taken off her shoulders and the adrenaline died down, her old body gave in. Susan is already quite old. She is not used to the noise and stress that the limelight brings.

And well, I am just guessing that she was not able to take the disappointment of losing well. If I were in her shoes, I think I would be hospitalized, too, as I would be very disappointed.

I just wish Susan a fulfilling career in singing after her stint with Britain's Got Talent. May she prosper as a singer and bless people with her voice.
