Susan Boyle - Over-night Singing Sensation

How Will She Handle Her New-found International Fame

Janice Meyer
After hearing Susan Boyle sing on 'Britain's Got Talent,' I thought her voice was the most beautiful in all the world. At 48 years, she belted out her song with a lot of poise and feeling. From there, she became an over-night international sensation. Shortly after that, I began to read stories that she was unstable and suffered from loneliness and anxiety. These stories hinted that possibly Susan Boyle was not completely mentally well.

A number of concerns were spoken that perhaps Boyle was not able to handle the pressure of international stardom. One brother stated that Boyle needs 24-hour care; she needs someone to look after her. There could have been a personal motivation behind such a statement. Susan Boyle says she loves her situation of fame and stardom, and also that she would like to share it with a certain someone.

Susan Boyle is a native of Blackburn, Scotland. She is not your usual young, shapely singer that often appears on 'American Idol,' but she is so talented and has such a wonderful voice, it's like a band of angels singing. Boyle is greatly dedicated to her faith, and turned closely to that in the excitement of her debut and later global fame. She has a certain demeanor that shows happiness and friendliness. Her loneliness may be due to fear of being alone, especially in the night, as at one time she came home and found a young man leaving her home. It has not been revealed if anything or what may have been taken in the break-in.

Susan Boyle's albums have been, and are still selling as if flying off the shelves. Boyle commented that just after the 'Britain's-Got-Talent' incident, she said "there were close to 50 TV stations outside my door - stuff like that. For someone who was very quiet to come to such terms is difficult. She continued, "I was like a scared child before, but now I'm not as scared as I used to be."

Susan Boyle's first album, I Dreamed a Dream, was released on November 23, 2009, and has become Amazon's best-selling in pre-sales. BillBoard reported "The arrival of I Dreamed a Dream, marked the best opening week for a female artist's debut album since Sound Scan began tracking sales in 1991"
.
Sometime after her debut on 'Britain's Got talent,' Susan Boyle took a much-needed rest from her hectic schedule - 10 days off at home before heading back out toward the Netherlands. Her family wants her to buy a more secure home with some of the $9 million she is expected to earn from album sales. For now, she is still at her mother's town house. Her manager had placed outside the home, a 24-hour security guard. Susan also often calls a longtime friend late at night, who said "If she's upset, she'll stay the night. Security will bring her to my place, and I will take her home in the morning."

I feel that anyone who suddenly is left alone could feel lonely and even anxious. I believe that is normal, especially for women. Before Susan Boyle became famous, her constant companion was her cat, Pebbles. Now, because of her frequent travel, Susan has temporarily left Pebbles in the care of a close acquaintance.
Boyle did comment on 'Britain's Got Talent' that she has never been kissed. Another relative said of her, "I know Susan would like to meet the right person. She is no different than any other woman on earth. Susan is the first to admit that although she is thrilled with her career success, she often feels lonely. "When the lights switch off and the audience leaves to go home, Susan is very much on her own".

I have now become a member of Susan Boyle's Fan Club.

I also think she's a bit conservative and doesn't like the attention that much. Susan Boyle is a great lady with a great voice..!

Susan's from a small Scottish community and no wonder she finds the attention a bit overwhelming. The British tabloid press unfortunately like to see people fail so they've been a bit put out that she's had such success. They often try to bring her down. It would be great if she found a loving, genuine man to share life with now she has so much going for her. She has an innocent spirit - much more attractive than the journalists and others who don't wish her well.
