Susan Boyle Receives a Guest

A Dedicated Fan

Susan Boyle graciously received a fan, Maurice Magnat, at her home in Blackburn, West Lothian, Scotland on July 8, 2010. He had cycled all the way from his home in France.

Maurice Magnat, who is a great fan of the 'Wild Horses' singer, was desperate to meet his idol in person, so he decided to ride his bicycle to her house in Blackburn, West Lothian, Scotland, hoping he would get a glimpse of Susan.

Despite his long trip, Maurice was smiling when he finally dismounted from his bike outside Susan's home. He was happy to pose for photos as he held out a map to show the several miles he had peddled to get there.

Shortly after he arrived, Maurice had his dream come true when Susan popped outside to collect a brand new, 50 inch plasma TV that was being delivered. Susan danced for the crowds while attempting to spell out a variety of letters with her arms. She was dressed in a bright orange jumper and neckerchief.

The over-night singing sensation who rose to fame after coming in second in 'Britain's Got Talent' last year has entertained her neighbors several times this week.

Just days ago, Susan took to the pavement in front of her home to show off her new T-shirt, with a featured cartoon of a heron eating a frog, above the caption "Don't Ever give up.'

Susan Boyle has had her ups and downs (a previous happening). Ricky Gervais moved swiftly to suppress criticism of a controversial joke about Susan in his stand-up comedy show. Gervais sparked fury after using the word, "mong" in a British saying often used as a derogatory term for sufferers of Down's Syndrome - as he joked about Boyle.

Officials at the U.K.'s Down's Syndrome Association contacted the comedian after receiving a "report" about this specific show. Gervais quickly wrote back to explain the word was not intended to be offensive in the context of his routine. Gervais has since written on his official blog to tell fans how the potential atrocity was dissipated as soon as he reached out to the association.

Gervais writes, "The Down's Syndrome Association (DSA) contacted my PR , explaining they had had a report about my routine about Susan Boyle, and gave their obvious concerns. I sent them an email (in which I wrote) 'I clearly explain that words change and that at no point am I referring to anyone with Down's Syndrome.' I also do it as part of a routine about comedians taking responsibility for everything they say. I hope this is acceptable."

Gervais' quick response was well received by the association's bosses - they wrote back: "Fully explained and acceptable reply."

I too love her. She just seems to have caught on so quickly. Sincerity is here strength I believe. And good writing is yours.

She seems to be an interesting person. I think there is a certain amount of stress in fame and more attention than she might be used to.

She is one of the few women out there is just herself. And they are so cruel to her because of it. Sends a very negative message to everyone.

Thanks for the update. Susan Boyle is a remarkable person for being able to survive the instant stardom that was thrown in her lap.
