Susan Boyle at the Semi Finals of Britain's Got Talent (Link Provided)

A Memorable Rendition of Memories

On Sunday evening May 24, 2009, Susan Boyle, the charming Scottish woman that delighted audiences earlier on Britain's Got Talent, returned for the second time to that stage. Her goal was to see if she would make it to the semi finals of Britain's Got Talent.

It was obvious at the outset she was a wee bit nervous. As she walked onto the stage her initial facial expressions betrayed her true feelings. No smile was upon her face prior to sing; she appeared tense and nervous. When she first opened her mouth to sing, there was a notable tightness in her voice. A flat note started her song. However after a few bars of the music, her confidence regained, her voice grew louder and stronger. Although her performance was excellent for the rest of her solo, it was not the stellar performance of her earlier in the month.

The song which Ms Boyle picked to sing for the semi-final competition of Britain's GotTalent was "Memories", from CATS. It seemed an especially apropo song for her. First off here, is a woman who resides with her cat. But for those familiar with the musical CATS, they may recall that during the musical there are five versions of Memories sung. One of those versions of, Memories song during the musical starts off tentatively and hesitantly, as did Susan's performance. It is doubtful this was her intent, yet it was highly effective.

The song choice was perfect for a woman of Susan's age; it is suited for a mature woman who is looking back over the course of her life with nostalgically and having regrets. Susan admitted to having had some regrets, when she admitted to never having been kissed. She was the embodiment of the song and its essence. Certainly this did not go unnoticed by the ever critical Simon Cowell.

Cowell did not appear to have complaints about her performance tonight; he and the rest of the audience and judges gave Susan a standing ovation at the conclusion of her performance.

Susan Boyle has taken the world by storm since she first appeared on the world's stage. Piers Morgan gave an excellent summation as to why Susan has touched the hearts of the world. He eloquently explained that she came out of nowhere in a time when the world needed hope and inspiration. She provided this and for this he thanked her. Amanda stated that this time during the performance chewing on her acrylic nails and was rooting for her. The last time she sang, if you may recall she admitted to having been against her. In a rare admission Simon apologized for his and the judges atrocious behavior, and as well he should, for the rude treatment he and the rest had given her prior to the first time she sang.

Susan was successful at her bid to make it to the finals which will take place on May 30, 2009. The winners receive a $159,000 prize and perform in front of the royal family. Susan stated that she would love to have the opportunity to perform for her queen.

The saddest part of Britain's Got Talent is that most of us in the states can't see the show live. Click to see to Susan Boyle's performance. Once again the finale of the show will be held on May 30, 2009.

I loved her first song. I would already buy an album she would make. I think she has a right to have been a little nervous since how can you top her first performance.

Susan is a breath of fresh air! If the Brit's don't make her a winner, I believe she'll have a record deal nonetheless. Great article!

    I hope she wins!
