Susan Boyle Sings for Pope in Glasgow, Scotland

Her Dream Came True

Janice Meyer
Just two days ago, September 16, was a wonderful day for Susan Boyle, as she sang what she called a 'dream-Come-True.' She was so honored to have been asked to sing for Pope Benedict XVl's open-air mass in Glasgow, Scotland. She sang her trademark song, "I Dreamed A Dream" and several traditional hymns including 'How Great Thou Art' and 'Make Me A Channel of Your Peace.'

Susan was thrilled at the thought of this request and also to sing for a crowd of 65,000 at Beellahouston Park in Glasgow. She is a devout Catholic and was ecstatic about this event. She said she was also humbled by the opportunity to perform. Susan also commented that her faith is the sustenance of her life. She said she was humbled and honored to be chosen to sing for the Pope and hoped she could do her best.
Susan Boyle was dedicated to do her best on Thursday as she gave the performance of her life as she called the request her 'greatest dream come true.'

However, all was not so great before this happened. Lou Reed had her greatly devastated when he refused to have Susan Boyle sing his track Perfect Day on TV. The singing sensation, Susan, was set to perform the song on America's Got Talent. When she arrived on September 8th for the sound check at the Los Angeles studios, Boyle learned Reed was not a fan and had refused to let her sing the lovely rendition.

Some sources said that Susan left the studio in tears and didn't appear on the episode. Now it is said she brought out complaints from travelers on her return flight because of her singing and crying. Now an email from Susan's manager reports the snub left the singer heartbroken.

Lou Reed's reps say the rocker was not responsible for the decision not to allow Susan Boyle to sing his Perfect Day anthem on a U.S. TV Talent contest. Sources say it was a licensing problem that caused all of the chaos.
A spokesman for Reed tells TV news show, Access Hollywood, Reed did not turn down Boyle's request to sing Perfect Day on the show, adding, "a glitch prevented the song from being performed in an American market."

I believe Susan Boyle is a great singer and she has the voice to really belt those lovely songs out across any major auditorium or outdoor entertainment area. When I first heard her voice, I was in awe - every word was perfectly enunciated and also there was much feeling within the words and lines she sang. "I Dreamed A Dream" is a most beautiful song and she gave it every bit of her lovely voice that the song deserves.
