Susan Boyle, Stavros Flatley: Britain's Got Talent 2009 Must-Sees

Susan Boyle Stole the Show!

Sophie Stillwell
If you haven't yet seen Susan Boyle's performance on Britain's Got Talent 2009, you must be living under a rock. Seriously. Susan Boyle has absolutely rocked the talent show world with her astounding audition on Britain's Got Talent 2009 on April 11. A 47 year old, unemployed, single cat owner, Susan Boyle is not a woman whose appearance would make one think there was greatness lurking within her. She's plain, slightly unkempt, and (by reality TV show standards) positively elderly.

But when Susan Boyle opens her mouth to sing "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Miserables, you can be certain that all the angels in heaven took pause and listened. You can find the full audition of Susan Boyle here: Susan Boyle on Britain's Got Talent 2009.

Even my son, a 15 year old, loved Susan Boyle's performance on Britain's Got Talent. When I showed him the video, he began snickering (as most people do), thinking it was going to be a joke performance. His jaw literally dropped when Susan Boyle unleashed her undeniable vocal talents. If a teenager who listens to the likes of White Stripes and Led Zeppelin can appreciate Susan Boyle's performance, anyone can.

While Susan Boyle certainly stole the show for the first audition episode for Britain's Got Talent 2009, she wasn't the only jewel to shine.

Father and son dance team, Demetrios (age 40) and Lagi (age 12) Dementriou, performing as Stavros Flatley (a clear reference to Michael Flatley of River dancing fame) also delighted the audience and internet viewers alike. Of Greek heritage, Demetrious and Lagi are an adorably chunky father and son.

Their performance on Britain's Got Talent 2009 will make you laugh - you just can't help it - but you must admit that the Stavros Flatley team has dance skills and an amazing spirit. Simon Cowell, a notoriously snarky talent show judge most well known in the USA for his role on American Idol, stated at the end of their routine, "Can I say, that was one of my favorite ever dance acts!" You can see the delightful performance: Stavros Flatley on Britain's Got Talent 2009.

Britain's Got Talent 2009 is currently ongoing and still in the audition phase, so we likely won't see Susan Boyle or Stavros Flatley for a couple of weeks. Brit's are fortunate that they can watch every show as it broadcasts, but all is not lost for international viewers, including those in the USA. The Britain's Got Talent 2009 website offers highlight clips if you just want to see performances of note. Visit the official show website here: Britain's Got Talent Official Website .

Susan Boyle, Stavros Flatley, and all of the talented performers on Britain's Got Talent 2009 are sure to delight audiences around the world. I can't wait to see more!

Sophie, I wrote about her also. She is outstanding/ the traditional you must be beautiful, attention grabbing and all of this is now 'defunct'. Susan is outstanding. Great article. Karen, I'm really serious - you HAVE to see both of these performances. Susan Boyle will blow you away, and the Stavros Flatley one will having you giggling if not howling in no time. Really!
