Susan Smith

Gary Jamieson
This is the story of the boys who died, I dropped my heart and closed my eyes and cried.

To have a wife, a family and a home, a child to keep your name when you are gone.

In the name of love, and the good lord above, please don't let them be alone.

This is a story of two people I had never met, though there faces are ones that I could never forget.

There is one heart that I could always trust, a mother's hand, you should never feel the bust.

Could this mother love, why are the boys above, please don't let them be alone.

You see pretty pictures on your TV screen, of two little boys that we all have seen,

a cruel woman who they call mom, watched them scream and suffer there final time.

Blood and tears trailed to there gravestones, and people gathered around not to be alone.

The whole town got down on there knees and prayed, I still look at the house to look where they once laid.

In the name of love and the good lord above, please don't let them be alone.

You see pretty pictures on your TV screen, of two little boys that we all have seen,

a cruel woman who they call mom, watched them scream and suffer there final time.

This was a song I wrote shortly after the incident happened. The incident where a woman named Susan Smith put her two children in the back seat of a car and put it in drive into a large body of water. The children, though fighting to get out, drowned that night. Susan Smith got on TV in front of millions of people and stated it was a black man who kidnapped the children. The reality of it was that Susan Smith had fell for a man that didn't want to have or deal with children. So the sick and twisted excuse of a mother to kill her children was to get with this man.

I had a lot of anger during this time about this and didn't know how to react. After all, my mother was the opposite of everything this woman stood for. After I wrote this rather brash song, I must admit I felt better and wished that Susan Smith herself could hear it. In fact, she is fully capable of defending herself, her children were not.

I hope whoever reads this will enjoy the final respects I wanted to give to these two boys.
