This restaurant has been around for many years. However, it just recently became known to its patrons to have the freshest fish in the city. This restaurant has over 40 different offerings of sushi and sashimi, which includes the option of soy paper or seaweed wrap. Among other offerings are tempura and teriyaki entrées. Uptown Sushi - 1131 Uptown Park Blvd., Suite 14, Houston, TX 77056 - 713-871-1200

This eatery oozes atmosphere and elegance. Though the restaurant offers more of the fusion style of sushi, sushi aficionados will love this place. Individual pieces of sushi run from $2-$6, with rolls starting at $8 and going to $16. Entrées range from $15-$28, and include the blackened lobster and shrimp fettuccine. The hours of operation are Monday through Wednesday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Thursday through Friday 11 a.m. to 12 a.m., and Saturday 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. reservations are suggested

This restaurant is best known for its hot rock beef. If you are wondering exactly what this is, well it is exactly as it sounds. It is slices of beef cooked on a hot rock at the table. This eatery is actually a Japanese tearoom. Though the interior is a bit quaint, the food and service make up for the lack of space. Menu items range from $2-$14.95. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday 12 noon to 3 p.m., Monday to Thursday 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and Friday through Saturday 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Zake - 2946 South Shepherd Drive, Houston, TX 77098 - 713-526-6888

This restaurant is a sparked a hangout and grab different bento boxes, noodle bowls, sushi, and sashimi. They also have rooms that have a bocce tables for the chefs to cook your food before your very eyes. Keep in mind that this restaurant offers some specialties that are not on the menu. So do not be afraid to ask about them. Data items range in price from $14-$30. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday 11 a.m. to 12 a.m., Saturday 12 p.m. to 2 a.m., and Sunday 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. Happy hour is Monday through Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

This restaurant is located on the Far East side of the Montrose area in Midtown Houston. Best of all, it is a place to see and be seen. That is if you are into that type of thing. Aside from the people watching, the sushi eating is also great. This is another Asian fusion restaurant, so be prepared for sushi as well as other Asian influenced dishes. Hours of operation are Monday through Wednesday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Thursday through Friday 11 a.m. to midnight, Saturday and noon to midnight, and Sunday noon to 11 p.m.

Tokyohana Grill & Sushi Bar - 3239 Southwest Freeway, Houston, TX 77027 - 713-838-9560

Among the positive aspects of this restaurant are the decor and the choice between teppanyaki and the sushi bar, which allows you to watch the sushi chefs create your selections right in front of you. This restaurant also offers a patio area for times of warmer weather. If you are not a fan of raw fish opt for the tuna steak, which is marinated in Japanese spices and wasabi soy, and served with scallions and mushrooms and garlic butter. Sushi starts at $3.25 and goes up from there. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., Saturday 12 p.m. to 2 a.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Reservations are suggested.

Kobe Japanese Grill & Sushi - 433 Sawdust Road, Spring, TX 77380 - 281-298-2000

Though this restaurant is not located directly in Houston, Spring is a suburb of Houston. In addition, the sushi is well worth the drive. Be prepared to spend some time, as this is not one of your sushi buffets. Each item ordered its prepared fresh. They also offer a complimentary cup of tea. Sushi rolls range from $3.95 to $14.95. Sushi and sashimi start at $3 and go up to $35 for the sashimi combo see which includes 24 pieces of sashimi. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 11:15 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday 12 noon to 2:30 p.m., Sunday 12 noon to 3 p.m., Sunday through Thursday 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday to Saturday 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Reservations are not required, but are suggested.

Though none of these restaurants features buffets, the freshness says it all. Moreover, because the sushi and sashimi is freshly prepared, it is well worth the cost of skipping the buffet.

    Some of the sushi restaurants you've listed are amongst the worst in Houston. Doesn't sound like you've actually eaten at any of these restaurants - it looks as if you just copied generic information from the web without giving a subjective review of how the food tastes.
