Considering the prices, the sushi is always fresh and fast. When you walk in, you are greeted by the cashier, typically a high-school surfer looking kid. The menu offers many sushi choices, including Hand Rolls, Nigiri, Sashimi, Maki, and Specialty Rolls. In addition they offer two non-fish choices of a Chicken Teriyaki Bowl or a Steak Teriyaki Bowl. You can order Miso Soup, Edamame, Salads, Tempura and Yakitori as well.
Everyday, Sushi Fix, offers lunch specials. The most popular special is the #2 Sushi Fix, which includes 1 Medium Roll ($8.00 or under), 1 Nigiri Sushi, 1 Hand Roll and 1 Miso Soup or Salad, and a drink, all for $12.95. They also offer a Basic Fix, which includes 1 Spicy Tuna or California Roll, 1 Nigiri Sushi, 1 Miso Soup or Salad and a drink for $8.95 or the Teriyaki Fix, which includes Teriyaki Chicken or Steak on Steamed Rice, 1 half California/Spicy Tuna Roll or 1 Nigiri or 1/2 order Tempura, 1 Miso Soup or Salad and a drink for $8.95. I always get the Sushi Fix, because it is plenty of food. I also always order the Green Salad with Ginger Dressing, which is fresh and tasty.
Of their specialty rolls, my favorite is the Red Head Roll, a shrimp tempura and krab roll, topped with spicy tuna, spicy sauce and tempura shavings. It's crunchy and hot all at the same time. Other specialty rolls like Black Widow Roll, Monkey Roll and Sunset Roll are delicious as well.
They offer pretty much any of your basic fish as Nigiri: Tuna, Salmon, Yellowtail, Albacore, Scallop, Shrimp, Eel, Octopus, Smelt Eggs, Salmon Eggs, Flying Fish Eggs and Seared Ahi. And their selection of Maki Rolls, is fairly standard. If you have a basic roll preference, they have you covered.
The restaurant is always clean and food comes out quickly. I've never had to wait longer than 15 minutes for my freshly prepared sushi. And while I wait I can watch local news, sports or surfing videos that are played on the large screen TV. The staff is great: attentive and helpful.
So if you are wandering around Little Italy, not in the mood for Italian food, swing by Sushi Fix for great, fast and affordable sushi.
