Suspect Caught After Mugging Near Woodward and Nine Mile in Ferndale

Como's Restaurant, and the surrounding area near Woodward and Nine Mile Road, is generally considered a safe area to frequent the night life by walking from place to place. Last Saturday, a Virginia man had a much different experience while walking in a nearby alley. He was jumped by two or three people who punched him in the face and took whatever they could.

Luckily, the victim was well enough to lead police to a nearby house party where many young adults were drinking. The robbery suspect was spotted and led police on a foot chase before being caught. Another teen at the party was arrested for operating while intoxicated and yet another for being a minor in possession of alcohol.

The robbery suspect was charged with unarmed robbery, a felony which carries a maximum sentence of 15 years. He was released after posting bond.
