Suspect in Natalee Holloway Disappearance Joran Van Der Sloot Confesses Again

Natalee Holloway was 18-years old when she disappeared during a high school trip to Aruba. A search ensued but she has never been found. Since that time, a suspect in Natalee's disappearance, Joran Van der Sloot, has confessed twice.

Holloway was last seen getting into a car with Van der Sloot and two other males, brothers Deepak and Satish Kalpoe, outside an Aruban bar on May 30, 2005. All three men have been questioned repeatedly by Aruban police but none have been charged in connection to the disappearance of Holloway.

Joran Van der Sloot has confessed again, but the prosecutor, Peter Blanken, thinks this one is another lie, telling NBC News the story is "very unbelievable."

"The locations, names, and times he gave just did not make sense," adding Van der Sloot had previously claimed Natalee Holloway died after she suffered a seizure on the beach and he had dumped her body in the ocean. That confession was secretly video taped by a Dutch crime reporter. Van der Sloot would later recant, saying he lied to impress the man he was talking to.

Van der Sloot has also said he sold Natalee to a Venezuelan man on a boat for $10,000, later insisting he made the story up. In his latest confession, Van der Sloot said in an interview with a German reporter from RTL that he dumped Natalee's body in an Aruban swamp. A second interview with Van der Sloot in Frankfurt is planned for
sometime this week.

Former U.S. Attorney Doug Jones said, "What has to be done is a continued effort to try to piece together all of the pieces of the puzzle...so that a much bigger picture comes across. Now should this tape be used and evidence of a body actually found in that marsh, then that's a whole different story that provides some of the corroboration
that might be necessary."

Of the latest confession, Aruban justice department officials told De Telegraaf that although it has sparked new inquiries into the investigation, "it soon became clear this statement is a mixture of lies and fantasy," and that if Van der Sloot were telling the truth, he would tell them the exact location of Holloway's body.

Aruban law enforcement have suspected Van der Sloot in Natalee's disappearance for some time and despite his confessions, no charges have ever been filed in the case. The fate of the young high school student may never be known.

Paulus Van der Sloot, Joran's father, died recently. The question has been raised as to his knowledge of the events that took place the night of Natalee's disappearance. Witnesses have come forward, including one
who lives on the beach and has claimed both Van der Sloot's were seen together the night Natalee disappeared. Did the elder Van der Sloot know something? Did he participate in a coverup? It's possible Mr. Van der Sloot took valuable information to the grave with him.
