Newark's Mayor Cory Booker, surrounded by city officials and police officials working with him on the recent triple murder case, held a press conference regarding the shooting of four college students in a school yard. The victims were all shot in the head in a gangster-like manner. Three young men died from their wounds and one young lady had managed to survive. It was suspected that the victims had been in the wrong place at the wrong time, possibly in the middle of a gang initiation in the park or robbery.

The injured woman, the only survivor, was said to have been cooperating with the investigation and it was reported during the conference held by Mayor Booker that as a result of her cooperation, one 15-year-old teenager had been arrested and an older man was being sought. The 15-year-old was not named and additional suspects were being sought. Details were not given such as how many additional suspects were being looked for or any details that might have hindered the search and investigation.

The mayor said that as a result of the information given by the victim, the investigation led to others, who also shared more information about who was present or involved in the park at the time of the shooting. More information is coming in, Booker said. During the search for the man, new information was learned that would lead to more suspects.

A picture was shown of a man named Jose Carranza who was said to be 31 years old, and police said he was involved in the shooting in some way with the 15-year-old. A reward was offered for any information leading to the arrest of suspects. Information was shared without the release of too many details. Mayor Booker fielded questions from the press and even answered some in Spanish.

A second press conference was held shortly after the first. During the first press conference, someone had whispered in Mayor Cory Booker's ear that a lawyer named Montage was on the phone. He had with him his client, Jose Carranza, who wanted to turn himself in. The 31-year-old suspect wanted to be turned over to the mayor.

The press asked Booker what was said. Booker said that he spoke with Felix Montage. "I had absolutely nothing to say to this individual," he said regarding Carranza, who handcuffed and turned over to the officers.

It was reported during the second conference that suspects had been apprehended and others were at-large. The numbers of those in custody and those being sought was not said. There is information coming in.

The mayor was asked why and how the suspect was turned in. Booker said that the suspect had contacted the attorney and then the attorney asked to turn man in to mayor. He was contacted when whispered about the situation in his ear during press conference.
