Suzan Lewis May Be the Daughter of Jerry Lewis

Suzan Lewis will soon learn whether or not comedian Jerry Lewis is her father. Jerry Lewis' son Gary will undergo a DNA test to determine whether or not Suzan is his half-sister. According to The Post Chronicle, results of the DNA test will be broadcast on Inside Edition.

According to Suzan Lewis, her mother's cancer diagnosis caused her to reveal that she had had an affair with Jerry Lewis. She did not want to die with her daughter not knowing where she came from. Suzan's mother signed an affidavit saying that Jerry Lewis was Suzan's father.

Jerry Lewis: Career and Family

Jerry Lewis was born in Newark, NJ, in 1926 (as Joseph Levitch). He is most famous for his slapstick humor, his singing ability, and his charity work with the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Jerry famously paired up with Dean Martin in 1946 as the comedy team Martin and Lewis. Dean Martin was often the straight man in their funny man acts. The act lasted for ten years before they split up. Jerry Lewis continued his career with Paramount where he became a comedy star.

Jerry Lewis has been married twice, first to Patti Palmer from 1944-1980, and second to SanDee Pitnick from 1983 until now. He has six sons and an adopted daughter. His son Gary had a pop music career in the 1960s with Gary Lewis and the Playboys. Jerry has never publicly acknowledged Suzan as his daughter.

Suzan Lewis and Other Estranged Parents

Suzan Lewis is not the only famous figure to discover her father's identity later in life. Model and actress Liv Tyler did not learn that Steven Tyler was her father until she was nine years old. Her mother Bebe Buell had initially claimed that Todd Rundgren was her father. Bebe Buell felt that Steven Tyler had been too addicted to drugs at the time to serve as a father figure.

After learning that Steven Tyler was her father, Liv changed her last name to Tyler and developed a close relationship with her biological father. In 1993, they worked together on an Aerosmith video Crazy, and later worked together in the movie Armageddon.

Hopefully Suzan Lewis will be as fortunate as Liv Tyler in being able to find out who her father is, and to develop a close relationship with him. Liv and Steven Tyler have shown that it's never too late.
