A man is mistreated by a judge just to get his wife. Therefore when he escapes the prison he plans his revenge and creates the persona: Sweeney Todd.

So I saw this because I like the director and the actors, but it did not go over well with me. No fault of the movie at all, because it was interesting. But revenge stories bore me to tears and they are almost all the same with the lesson at the end about how revenge is not so sweet.

However, I like how the blood is made into a character. There is so much blood in this movie that I bet they have little silly factoids that state they had X gallons of blood used during the entire production. It doesn't and it does look like blood, as in it has its own unique part in the entire movie especially at the end. The end was oddly awesome, for that ending shot is poetic justices in the most awesomest sense.

The songs were alright, again not fault of anyone it's just so not my taste. I think I like a couple of the songs, maybe. They had their catchy moments and the actors could all sing well enough that I did not wish I could shut my ears like I can my eyes.

The visuals were eye candy galore. Leave it to Burton to have such a great eye for detail, and one of the best parts is with the song about how things could be in the future. That was visual carousal of eye-spectacular. The addition of Johnny Depp's lack of expressions and Helen Barter-Carter's lovely singing made it all the better. It also mad it my favorite part of the entire movie.

Johnny Depp was, as consistent as he always is, astounding. He embraces every character he takes on, and when you see him acting in a new movie you forget all the characters he played before. His character's revenge was worn on his face like a mask through most of the movie. Helen Bonham Carter made condescending a lovely and an endearing trait with her character. Timothy Spall is every bit as charming as he's not supposed to be. I really like his scene when he comes to inspect. Sacha Baron Cohen has a nice seriously weird role, and he does a swell job with it. Alan Rickman is an icky old man with a sick lusting need for young flesh. Ew. Ed Sanders plays the young boy and he does a great job with his singing and how he commands the attention of the passersby, as well as the audience as if he were on stage.

Sweeney Todd is worth seeing. If you don't like blood, then you won't like the movie and especially the ending. I really liked the ending. I did not like the entire movie because of the theme. It was boring and not appealing to me. But as an entire whole this movie was well put together, and all the hard work by everyone involved is noticeable. It was masterfully executed to deadly precision like the straight edge blade to the throat of a meat pie victim.
