Some Say the Musical Comedies Rival Broadway Shows

You're planning a trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. You might be eagerly anticipating gazing upon the beautiful Smoky Mountains. Maybe you might be anticipating a trip to Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum. You might even think you can be entertained by a great country music show. You might not, however, have ever considered that you might be able to see a comedy show that might rival one you would see on Broadway. For 34 years the Sweet Fanny Adams Theater in Gatlinburg has been entertaining audiences with a comedy show that some say is as "good as any on Broadway."

According to the official website of the theater, http://www.sweetfannyadamstheatre.com, it is the only alternative to country music shows in Gatlinburg. It is also billed as the area's musical comedy attraction and the oldest theater to present live on-stage original music comedies in the Smokies.

Shows presented include Don't Worry .... It's Nothing Serious, which is reportedly a "mad-cap magical revue," which reportedly contains songs and "nonsense comedy routines," and "inept magic." The show also has the World Famous Paper Dance. The magic is performed by the "Great Stupino & Trudy."

Not Quite a Fairy Tale is the story of a suffering princess, an extremely demanding queen, a decrepit king, a prideful prince, and a peasant who is greatly overworked. The show is full of pranks and highjinks.

During the Christmas season you can ring in the holidays with Yuletide Madness in a way like you never have before. You will laugh at the madcap comedy. You will watch the show with the spectacular dances and song. The show is from Thanksgiving through January 2.

The style of shows presented is like that shown in the 1890's in Old English music halls. It may remind you of Broadway musical comedies, Monty Python, American Vaudeville and Hee Haw. It is all guaranteed to be unlike anything you have ever seen or heard.

Pat and Don McPherson have written shows for the Sweet Fanny Adams Theater in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. They have written, directed, and produced more than 32 musical comedies. Audiences have seen their shows in more than 40 theatres. Their shows have been performed in Atlantic City, Los Angeles, New York, and their musical, Tom Jones, was shown for more than two years in Las Vegas.

The Sweet Fanny Adams Theatre has been recognized as one of the best in the country. During the season for the theatre, two shows are shown during the year. The shows are alternated nightly.

Every year the season at the theatre lasts from April 1 to January 1. Tickets are $24.30, which includes tax, for adults and $8.90 for children younger than 12. Discounts are available for those 60 and older and AAA members.
Online reviews of the Sweet Fanny Adams Theatre have generally been very positive, with a very few people not liking the show, which they considered too "corny."

"This is by far the best show in the Smokies and one of the best live shows I have ever seen period. I see it at least 3 or 4 times a year and it is always funny," fannylover said on Tripadvisor.com. "The theater is charming and a breath of fresh air from all the cookie cutter theaters in Pigeon Forge."

"I saw the show again just a few weeks ago. my face hurt from all the laughing! it's well worth it to make this part of your vacation in Gatlinburg," nowyouhavemyemail said on the same website.
