Sweet Lullabies

Songs Dad Sang to Me

Kathleen Shaeffer
When I was just a little girl
My dad, he sang to me
Sweet and lovely lullabies
While I sat upon his knee.

I loved to hear his voice, in song.
It had a special sound.
Nothing has ever come close.
It is still the greatest, around.

As I grew older, we sang our songs.
There were so many we knew.
We had always felt much better,
by the time that we were through.

And when he died, I thought I heard
His voice singing out to me,
The way he always sang.
When he sat me on his knee.
