Sweet Seduction Lavender Lace Scented Body Lotion: A Review

Is Lotion from the Dollar Tree Store Worth Your Dollar?

Kay Whittenhauer
With the economy worsening, I find myself at the Dollar Tree store more and more often. I picked up some hand lotion for work on my last trip there- I'll buy just about anything if it's only a dollar.

A lot of things attracted me to Sweet Seduction Lavender Lace Scented Body Lotion. First, the name! Sweet Seduction- ooh, that's enticing! Lavender Lace. How pretty! I love the scent of lavender and "lavender lace" makes me think of Stevie Nicks somehow. Then it comes in a purple tube. Purple's one of my my favorite colors. And the cursive feminine-style writing is right up my alley, too. So naturally, I had to pick it up.

The next step was to smell it. It smelled so good! I was sold! (I know it seems like a lot went in to making this one dollar purchase, but this is a recession, people!)

I brought it to work. My hands get dry at the office and using beautifully scented lotion is such a treat during the workday. Every time I used it, it was like a happy little mental break!

I wondered what it was about the lavender scent that was so uplifting, and then I learned that the lavender aroma can help fight the "winter blues". In aromatherapy, lavender is used to "fight depression because it has a steadying influence on the psyche. Lavender's balancing effect calms uncontrolled emotions, removes indecisiveness and emotional conflict, and helps to bring the feelings under conscious control. It brings a sense of rationality to the conscious mind."1 How much more perfect could it be for the work environment!

Sweet Seduction Lavender Lace Scented Body Lotion doesn't compare to higher price brands as far as quality goes. The lotion is pretty watery and needs to be reapplied often if it's to have any moisturizing effect. It also comes out of the tube really fast- an obvious design flaw. But, if you wash your hands often and need to reapply lotion all the time anyway, Sweet Seduction Lavender Lace Scented Body Lotion is fine. And the fact that it's a dollar for 6.1 fluid ounces really tips the scale in its favor.

The verdict on Sweet Seduction Lavender Lace Scented Body Lotion is: 10 out of 10 for scent, 6 out of 10 for quality, 10 out of 10 for price. So I guess the overall average comes out to an 8.6 out of 10. I would definitely recommend buying this for yourself or giving it to a friend or coworker as a little pick-me-up!

For a buck, how can you go wrong - esp with a positive product review.

Interesting ... I always wonder how Dollar Tree stuff is, quality-wise. It's good to know this is decent (although I get so much lotion and other stuff FREE at CVS, Walgreens, etc. after rebates that I'm usually set).
