Sweet and Sour

Olga L. Chacon
You deliver roses to my door,
but I send them back.
I eat from the box
of almond chocolate candies
you send me, but these
leave a sour taste in my mouth.
You create poetry
out of my waist and hips
as if there wasn't any other female body.
Michael, you think you can get anyone
because you have a sure thing at home.
If you give me any more
roses,
candies
and poetry,
I will lose these
in between the waves of the ocean.

His Response:

The minute I see
your light brown eyes
and long cury hair,
I'm out of control.
I send you roses,
I send you candies,
I send you my poems
containing the outline
of your voluptuous waist,
and curvy hips that I have nailed
inside my head.
I thought you would understand
my honest desire for you.
Instead, you think this is a game to me.
Your refusal has broken
my dreams
my hopes
my longings for you.
Cynthia, you have left me
with nothing but tears.
I cursed the day
I fell in love
with you.
