Sweet, Tangy and Spicy Cole Slaw Recipes

Cole slaw makes a great addition to a number of meals. It is also a convenient and easy to make dish for passing at club meetings, picnics and other gatherings. Instead of bringing one cole slaw to pass, why not take a few? To appease all taste buds in attendance, consider taking a sweet, tangy and spicy version of this traditional salad to your next special event.

Sweet Cole Slaw Recipe

Ingredients:

5 cups of shredded green cabbage
1 cup of red cabbage
1 cup of shredded carrots
1 large unpeeled and diced red apple (Fuji, Red Delicious or Gala)
2/3 cup of cole slaw dressing (southern style if available, usually stocked near the salad dressings)
1/2 cup of mayonnaise
1 tablespoon of lime juice
2 tablespoons of brown sugar

Preparation:

Mix cole slaw dressing, mayonnaise, lime juice and sugar in a large bowl. Add shredded cabbage, carrots and apples to bowl, and toss until well coated. Serve chilled.

Tangy & Tart Cole Slaw Recipe

Ingredients:

5 cups of shredded green cabbage
1 cup of red cabbage
1 cup of shredded carrots
1 large unpeeled and diced Granny Smith apple
2/3 cup of cole slaw dressing
1/2 cup of mayonnaise
1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon of lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon of salt

Preparation:

Mix cole slaw dressing, mayonnaise, vinegar, lemon juice and salt in a large bowl. Add shredded cabbage, carrots and apples together in the bowl. Toss until well coated. Serve chilled.

Spicy Cole Slaw Recipe

Ingredients:

5 cups of shredded cabbage
1 cup of red cabbage
1 cup of shredded carrots
2/3 cup of cole slaw dressing
1/2 cup of mayonnaise
1 tablespoon of lemon juice
1/4 cup of salt
1 teaspoon of black pepper
1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes
1 tablespoon of Lousiana hot sauce

Preparation:

Mix cole slaw dressing, mayonnaise, lemon juice, hot sauce, pepper and salt in a large bowl. Add shredded cabbage and carrots to bowl, and toss until well coated. Serve chilled.

In a rush? Purchase the bagged cole slaw located in the produce section of your grocer. For even more variety, use a broccoli cole slaw mix in lieu of the traditional mix. Follow the same instructions for preparation.
