Sweet Tomatoes in Raleigh, North Carolina - Restaurant Review

Richard Banks
A soup and salad buffet on steroids. This phrase is the best way to describe Sweet Tomatoes. In a country where obesity is widespread, Sweet Tomatoes offers Americans a healthy alternative to traditional buffets. Buffets where the main courses are fried or deep fried.

First Impressions

At first glance, Sweet Tomatoes looks like other "buffet style" restaurant. When you enter and see the selection of the buffet, all first impressions are now gone. There isn't a need to wonder what you are going to eat, because everything is right in front of you. The seating is adequate for larger groups. If you are in a party over 6, seating may become an issue. The décor is dated. Styles include outdated wall trimming and bland color choices.

Menu

There are over 20 items on the buffet strictly related to salads. An additional three items are pasta, while approximately 10 items are a combination of bakery items and desserts.

My Take and Thoughts
I was impressed with my experience at Sweet Tomatoes. The defining moment was when I saw the vast array of healthy options. Having a healthy option to the traditional buffet is lost in a business' need to offer similar choices. Sweet Tomatoes is on my top ten choices for anyone wanting to change their eating habits and adopt a healthier lifestyle.
