Sweet New Treats for the Calorie Conscious

Betty Crocker Warm Delights Minis Can Cure Your Sweet Craving Without Ambushing Your Diet!

I recently received a sample package in the mail of a tasty new dessert by Betty Crocker - the Warm Delights Minis Molten Chocolate Cake. I was a bit skeptical at first, because most microwave desserts are downright revolting. What caught my attention though, was the "150 Calories per bowl" emblazoned on the box. A gooey, chocolaty, warm dessert for only 150 calories? I had to try it.

The directions were quite simple; add water, stir, add the fudge topping, and microwave for 30 seconds on high. That seemed easy enough! I put together my little cake bowl in about a minute, popped it into the microwave, and pulled it out to let it rest for 2 minutes as the directions stated to do when it was done cooking. It looked a bit funny, with the way the chocolate fudge swirls tended to cave the cake in a bit, but it smelled wonderful!

I grabbed my cup of coffee and my little dessert bowl, and sat down for the true test ... the flavor. After taking the first bite, I was impressed. It truly did taste like a little piece of warm cake. This one was so rich; it almost had the flavor of a brownie, but with the consistency of a cake. Yum!

There are a couple of drawbacks I found with this product though, so I am going to give you a mini-list of the pros and cons of the new Betty Crocker Warm Delights Minis. I hope it makes your decision to purchase, or not to purchase, a little bit easier.

The Pros:

This dessert was very easy to make. It would be perfect for a quick snack or craving buster.
Only 150 calories, this is great for anyone on a low-calorie diet.
Very good taste, but you definitely need a glass of milk or a cup of coffee to go with it.
Disposable sturdy bowl that you can either toss out, or recycle for another project.

The Cons:

A little bit on the pricey side for my taste. Not good for those watching their pennies.
The disposable bowl is plastic, and I am not a big fan of microwaving my food in plastic due to the toxins that can be released.
The box says "Limited Edition", so I don't know if this means the product itself is limited edition, or just the flavor that was sent to me. If it were the product, it would be a disappointment to those who really loved the product, only to have it go off the market in a short while.

There you have it! This is my simple review of a yummy new dessert by Betty Crocker. If you have tried this yourself, let me know what you think!
